Ratings and Reviews
With apologies to the nice people at Oxford, dictionaries don’t usually look all that great. But LookUp is a dictionary for those with a penchant for aesthetics; the app delivers its daily definitions with illustrations that trigger both sides of your brain. Learn from a mahoosive collection of words like reticent, impresario, and mahoosive, which, we just learned, is really a word. Tap a card for pronunciations, origins, and synonyms; heart a word if you have a particular adulation for it.
Great little app now much improved
Just launched this with my Magic Keyboard for the first time and noticed that not only does it perform beautifully with it but a bunch of new features have been added!
The animations are delightful and the bug where you tapped the heart to like a word but it didn’t work, now does. The new word tests of similar sounding words are a treat.
The whole app is such a delight for anyone wanting to improve their English vocabulary and provide delight along the way.
I love this app. Between the pictorial interface and the large text, LookUp is welcoming and accessible, especially for someone like myself who is visually impaired.
RECOMMENDATION: I appreciate the audio pronunciation feature and would love to have the entire definition read to me in this manner.
