Description
Light Meter is an easy-to-use, functional light intensity (lux) meter perfect for measuring, comparing, and adjusting lighting levels in your environment, whether at work or at home.
Using multiple device sensor inputs, this small, convenient app collects light intensity data at the click of a button. It is indispensable when using a manual or film camera, without the need for expensive instruments that often cost hundreds of dollars. Great for setting up your greenhouse light settings, avoiding workplace lighting induced eye strain, or checking if your desk or craft station needs a bit more light.
Features:
- Realtime measurements
- One-time measurement
- Average and Max values
- Front and rear cam
- Lux and Foot candle measurements
Please note that Light Meter app is not a replacement for a professional device and should be used for private purposes only.

Ratings and Reviews
Front and back cameras give widely different values
You say it’s professionally calibrated but when I tested it with identical light levels the front camera said 400 lux and the back camera said 1000 lux. One of those obviously is incorrect but I can’t tell which, which makes the app a bit useless.
A Nice App, But Doesn’t Work Properly
This app seemed to work well in the past, on my iPhone 7 Plus, but seems to have a major fault on my new iPhone 12 Pro. I tested it in a fixed position on a table in our lounge, using the front camera. The more lights I switched on (uplighter, alcove lights, ‘big’ light) the lower the lux reading! I wonder whether the programmers haven’t taken account of the new iPhone camera’s ability to adjust to low light (?). Whatever the reason, I can no longer trust it, which is a pity. I am loath to spend upgrading to the ‘Pro’ version of the app, because the fault may still be there.
Help I’m being hunted
I skipped the subscribe button and I’m now using this app illegally in North Korea. This country bans this app and I’m currently being hunted but atleast I can find out the luminosity in my shack that costs more than my yearly income.
