Description

The MacDx app is designed for iPhone, iPad and iMac to measure dark adaptation of the macula to discover either active or a tendency for maculopathy. Delayed macular dark adaptation to light is a sign of possible disease. Macular dark adaptation testing is in addition to currently administered macular tests and does not duplicate any part of the usual eye examination. MacDx® does not diagnose or treat eye diseases which is the responsibility of eye care professionals. MacDx does provide useful data to assist the eye care professional in identifying and diagnosing macular disease. The app consists of three tests: White Light Dark Adaptation, Color Light Dark Adaptation and Dark Adaptation Curve. Each test takes about 5 minutes and results are archived. Depending on the test, statistics include mean, sum, standard deviation, coefficient of determination, coefficient of variation (CV%), Pearson correlation coefficient.
CPT code may apply: 92284–Diagnostic dark adaptation examination with interpretation and report. Physician specialities are applicable: Ophthalmologist, Optometrist, Neurologist.
A companion app for individuals, MacHealth, is a simplified version of White Light Dark Adaptation of the macula. MacHealth is a screening self-test for individuals which detects either active or a tendency for maculopathy on personal iPhone, iPad and iMac. Slow macular dark adaptation triggers the suggestion for professional eye care. MacHealth is sold separately. MacDx® and MacHealth™ can be used remotely by individuals or in the office by eye care professionals.
