Description

——— APPLE APP STORE EDITORS’ CHOICE ———

Every time you multitask with many apps open, you need all the windows arranged accordingly. Magnet makes this process swift and easy.

In one drag to the edge of your display, you size any app into half of the screen. And by dragging its windows to corners, you snap them into quarters. Sliding on the bottom edge creates thirds, or even sixths on ultra-wide monitors. Taking advantage of such arrangements eliminates app switching and greatly enhances workspace efficiency.

All commands can be triggered via keyboard shortcuts as well. You can find a predefined set of hotkeys under the menu bar icon, or create ones that fit your habits.

Yes yes yes

I had no idea an app like this existed, had it not been for be buying and Ultrawide monitor I do not think I would have ever found it. I am so glad I found it. I now use it for my 15" Macbook Pro as I'm so fed up of pushing windows around the tiny 15" screen and trying to use the Apple version which is limiting or annoying. The addition of short keys to make things easier helps too.
As someone elese has pointed out in a review called Best of Both worlds, Windows 10 has something simlar, I did not know that. Not having used windows 10 that much, this would be a massive bonus too, when I do use it. Yey
I used to use an app called Total finder and Spaces from Binary Age but ever since Mojave they have been having catch up programming problems, Now big sur is here just being able to install it is impossible. So I needed to find an alternative and this simple but super effective app helps bridge that gap.

Best of both worlds

Windows 10 users who move to a Mac will enjoy the Apple ’snap’ that precisely position one window next to another; but miss Microsoft’s paradigm of dragging a window to the edge of the screen and having it snap to the left, right, top or bottom. With Magnet you’ll get the best of both world - and more. As well using halves of the screen (and quarters) Magnet also divide the screen into three full height, side-by-side full height slots of equal width and have a window occupy one third or two-thirds of the screen. You’ll be able to drag windows to the left, right, top and bottom. When dragging to the left or right Magnet chooses to snap the window to have the window occupy one half of the screen (rather than one-third or two-thirds) but all the configurations are available with shortcut keys or (and I like this bit) there’s a drop-down icon on the top menu bar providing all the options.

In summary, it’s difficult to see how this product might be improved, and it’s the best 99 pence I’ve ever spent.

Missing feature of OS X done perfectly.

I've been using Magnet for years and I don't know why I haven't left a review yet. But I know why. It's beacuse it's one of the rare apps that doesn't bother you while working. It's a productivity app and it just shows one single popup while using it. And that's when you do a fresh install showing the shortcuts. This app all the way through follows apple's interface guidelines perfectly and I never ever seen magnet causing any kind of memory or cpu hogging. Even though there have been times I had to use 4 monitors at the same time, never seen a single bug. Magnet might be most underrated app. Also 5 more stars to the dev for not being greedy. Magnet does not force users to 'rent' the app under the subscription disguise. Go get the app. It just works perfectly.
