Description

*** Best Markdown Syntax Editor ***

With Markdown PRO you can write beautiful documentation, notes, essays, term papers all by using plain text to tag your formatting such as bold, italic, lists and others. Need a heading? add # before your text; need to make a text italic? add * around your *text*.

Using the plain text formatting, it is really easy and fast to type. You will never have to take your hands off the keyboard, so you can focus on writing. Markdown PRO provides live preview of beautifully formatted text using one of the provided templates. See the results as you type.

It takes less than a minute to learn it!

Your formatting stays where it should, with your text. You can apply a different template at any time to change the colors and size of the text you write.

Solid and practical

I wanted a markdown editor on my Mac as I use GitHub a lot and markdown was quickly becoming a great alternative to text or rtf files I previously used to keep notes. This app from many available struck me as professional clean and simple, so I bought it and have not been disappointed. I liked the idea of exporting to PDF or HTML which might come in handy for resumes or simple website articles. It also supports various flavours of markdown which is useful as the subtle differences might be important.

Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was the preview window doesn’t auto scroll with the editor window as you move up and down, so you find yourself loosing the flow of editing as you stop to mouse scroll the preview to match the portion of markdown you’re now editing. If the developers make this feature an option I’d give it 5 stars.

Great, but I’d like more…

I like this App, but mostly, I think, because writing in markdown is great. Writing semantics, not messing about with formatting. Lovely. Markdown Pro’s a fine App for this, but I feel it could do a lot more.

The split panes showing plain text and styled text is okay, but really, I’d much prefer to be just writing styled text using markdown syntax – I don’t have any great belief that there’s something holy about the plain text original. A few other apps make a stab at achieving this, but IMHO don’t really manage it.

The split panes also don’t automatically stay together when you scroll or type.

I found a small bug with the markup of bullet lists (I think – I could be wrong). I contacted the support team, but I didn’t hear back.

So, it’s pretty good and it’s my preffered option of those I’ve tried, but it could certainly be improved on. It’s still absolutely wonderful to be able to bang out a document that looks lovely using markdown syntax, and for that, its a few quid very well spent.

Good editor, but not perfect.

Markdown Pro was the third and the best Markdown Editor I have downloaded from the App Store. I now use it full time to create reports and technical manuals in PDF format.

I found just 3 issues and none are show stoppers.
1. It does not support the : for definition lists so I have to use <dl>, <dt>, etc
2. I couldn't get the Template feature work, and
3. The query I sent to Markdown Pro Support about these issues produced no acknowledgement or response.
