MasterClass: Become More You 12+

As both a life-long learner and someone trying to break into the entertainment industry, this app was MADE for me. My primary interest is writing and the app has writing classes in abundance, and my interests expands to other areas of film/tv which is where the directing/filmmaking etc classes come in handy. I’m quite curious and ambitious in general so I’ve already also done classes on business, negotiation, economics and more (if I’m honest, I basically have all the classes on my list except the sports ones haha!). It’s not just the content alone, but also of course the successful and famous ‘tutors’ which I love - I watched RuPaul’s one more because I love him than a pure isolated interest in his class! I’ve had this app for about 6 months now and have completed about 6 masterclasses, and I’m currently partway through about 4 others. I keep recommending it to all my friends, however I must note that this is worth the investment when you make the time for it; I personally often play the videos in the morning as I get ready, which is perfect for me. But I have friends who have struggled to ‘find the time’ for it so don’t run through as much content. Finally, I want to say that I just love the quality and format of videos and classes too - it’s so nice to watch and the lessons are very well sectioned.

If you’re the type of person who is interested in MasterClass and wants to dedicate time to learning, then there’s a good chance it’s right for you. It is a lot of money (similar price to Netflix though) but will teach you new skills, alongside life lessons and new perspectives from which to look at your projects, or anything that involves creativity. For me this is a really worthwhile self investment - even if I were to forget all the details of what I’ve learnt, I will always remember the confidence boost the “masters” gave me from sharing their own stories. I have read so much online advice when it comes to writing, but I learnt so much from Issa Rae’s class. It made me realise the importance of telling your own story and how to find it, and I started to have ideas I really believe in - for the first time it felt like I was writing something important and genuine.
Since it’s a lot of money to waste, I would recommend taking thorough notes as you learn, and doing as many classes as possible.
