Needs a built in stay awake option!
I love Mendeley and use it on both my Mac and PC to manage all my references. I also enjoy the iPad application as it allows you to focus on reading and can be used where a laptop cannot. However, many companies set a limit of 2 minutes on managed devices. Some developers of these applications have noticed this isn’t enough time to read without a dim and lock. Notability allows a stay awake option. Please enable this in your application so I can read my papers without constant reductions in brightness and then locking. I would of though for a reading and reference tool this would be a basic feature!
Acceptable but could be much more
I use mendeley as the primary reference manager on my laptop, where it does an amazing job. The ease of importing into the mobile app is good, but I really want to be able to free-form annotate files using the Pencil without having to leave the app: this would be a fantastic feature. This would enable me to mark-up my annotations and sync them across all devices without having to:
Export from mendeley to GoodNotes
Mark up in GoodNotes
Re-import into mendeley
Delete the original reference
In the process this also freezes the annotations in place, leaving me no way of modifying them later on.
With real pen support, this app would be the one-stop place for annotation and serious academic reference management with sync back to a “proper” computer.
Now working on iOS 13
thanks for the update! Seems to be working in iOS 13.
There is this one glitch I experience though, in reader mode, the screen snaps out of the paper when I try to open it. If I reopen the file, I can then read the paper- quite an irritating fault, but hey, it’s free and I doubt they have many staff.
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
