Unstable but expected
Working on several platforms, I now see that the inconsistencies and instabilities of this app are not uncommon across all their other products (with the Linux app being the most egregious). The core functionality of this app is certainly desirable, I just wish they could implement it well in at least one platform - it’s just not really reliable or dependable for work, which is a huge shame.
Needs a built in stay awake option!
I love Mendeley and use it on both my Mac and PC to manage all my references. I also enjoy the iPad application as it allows you to focus on reading and can be used where a laptop cannot. However, many companies set a limit of 2 minutes on managed devices. Some developers of these applications have noticed this isn’t enough time to read without a dim and lock. Notability allows a stay awake option. Please enable this in your application so I can read my papers without constant reductions in brightness and then locking. I would of though for a reading and reference tool this would be a basic feature!
Great features but all apps need work
The only Mendeley interface that works well is the web interface. I have used the app on iOS and MacOS, the MacOS app has a lot of inconsistencies and lack of features, but at the moment the iOS app is unusbale.
When the app is opened it goes into what appears to be sync mode (spinning loading wheel) and never exits that state. There is no progress bar to tell the user how long to wait. But the worst is that the app is essentially frozen until it exits this state so I am unable to read the documents that I already have locally. This really needs sorting out.
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
