What’s New
Version 5.2.4
This version fixes ongoing connection issues with the Sonos speakers. The implemented changes should also speed up the overall experience.
In detail, we found that the app started to hit rate limiting imposed by Sonos, so we have reduced the amount of request it sends. As a result more requests are handled locally and sent directly to Sonos speakers, which makes the app also faster.
Ratings and Reviews
Decent enough app
The app is decent enough but the UI is a little clunky and the app can't select a Line-In input properly (the Sonos Controller does this just fine). When I contacted support to ask for help I wasn't offered a solution and no workaround was forthcoming.
As others have said, Sonos isn't what it used to be, and the after-sales care is pretty abysmal. I wouldn't recommend investing in the Sonos ecosystem but if you're stuck with it, this app is an improvement over the uninspired Sonos Controller for Mac.
Amazing little app & Fantastic support.
This little app is fantastic on your mac. It sits conveniently on your top bar on the screen and is very easy to use for changing speaker selections or adjusting volum etc. I love being able to do this without covering any of my windows on the screen. After using for a few months I had an issue where the app couldnt find any of my speakers, I emailed the developer who replied within a few hours with clear concise instructions on how to resolve. The problem was at my end as I had installed a firewall Little Snitch. After temporarily switching it off was able to set it up again which is fast and easy. For the price and convenience it’s a bargain,
Don't bother
The only thing worse than the Sonos system itself which fails to connect to basically anything is this app which doesn't work half the time and can't even find the device when its sat next to it. Save your money and buy a bluetooth speaker, these WiFi ones are awful.
