Registration - Getting Started
Whether you’re an existing or new Metro Bank customer it’s simple to get started.
- If you’re registered for online and telephone banking, you’ll need your 12 digit customer number, 8 digit security number and your password
- If you’re not registered for either, you’ll need your 12 digit customer number and the details of the card you used most recently or your Magic Word.

Metro Bank’s mobile app is available for Personal customers and also Business customers if they’re using Business Internet Banking only.
Standard data charges from your mobile service provider may apply.

The Best Bank for Today’s World

The 1st thing they do is, when You open Your account is to take a digital photo If You get robbed You normally lose everything all Your ID your driving licence etc you also have No cash, No problem they are open x7 days a week until 8:00 bar Sunday it’s earlier You tell them your name address etc say You need a new card they simply check your stored photo and say take a seat it will take x5 minutes, You have a coffee collect a few pens 😉 and Your new card is given to You With that as it’s an ID, You can go to Your Vodafone store get a new SIM card to put in another phone etc etc Try waiting x5 working days for one to arrive in the post, from the other medieval banks, who you can’t even phone as you don’t have one, if You can even get through to a real person The app is designed from the ground up to work as you would expect it to faultlessly It has been update and made even better during My few years with them I cannot fault them in anyway shape or form, more branches would be handy although saying that I have only ever been into a branch on x3 or x4 occasions to open the account and pay in a cheque once It’s So friendly and relaxed Coffee / Proper sized pens to write with a cash counting machine even a toilet ... Metro bank is awesome

Terrible customer service

I’ve just recently upgraded my phone and as usual I’d forgotten some important security passwords, so with a little forward thinking I requested a magic number to make the transition to my new phone as painless as possible. Having then tried to use said magic number it wasn’t excepted…so then I called the customer service number and was firstly put on hold for 20 minutes and had to listen to some terrible music, and then secondly when I did get through I was told I’d been sent the wrong magic number, and that I had to go into the nearest Metro bank which was a 15 minute drive away…not to mention the £4.50 parking I had to pay for. Fortunately the person I spoke to in store was incredibly helpful and I left with my banking app restored. I’m considering closing my account and trying another high street bank. Yours faithfully Mr disgruntled customer!!

Hi there, sorry to hear about your experience. As you had previously had the banking app on your old device, a new magic number was not required to access the app on your upgraded device. In case you change your device again in the future, you can access your Customer Number via the app on 'My Details' screen. I am glad to hear this was sorted out in store for you.

Very concerned at having put money into Metro Bank

My wife and I have both been lured by the high interest rates offered by Metro Bank and have transferred considerable funds to them.
When it comes to accessing our funds it’s a different story. Firstly you are blocked from setting up payees on your ‘Instant’ Access Account unless you spend half a day going into one of their branches where you have to wait for a line of customers queuing to be served first to have one of their staff set up your current account so you can transfer money back to yourself.
When my wife wants to do this a spurious message about notifications is displayed. Not being specific or helpful you have to look up the message online in their website which tells you to go into the app, go to Settings, App Settings, Customisation and tap Notifications Centre. Guess what? There isn’t one! So you can’t transfer your funds to your current account with another bank! When you’re desperate to pay your credit card on time you are prevented by this useless inefficient and badly organised bank, and you end up with a bad credit rating due to their rubbish organisation. Hope they go bust and let proper banks continue with real customer service! Never dealt with such incompetence before in the banking industry!
