Description
MIDI Strummer is an AUv3 plugin designed to simulate guitar strumming and picking techniques. It can used to generate MIDI note data which can be sent to either an external synth of choice or the internal soundfont engine.
The inbuilt soundfont player allows you to import all your favourite .SF2 and .DLS soundfonts and use them as a sound source. MIDI strummer has a set of 16 definable chord pads that can hold a series of chords, which in turn can be triggered remotely via MIDI messages or by tapping the pads.
Use the pattern editor to create a series of picking or strumming patterns that can be tranposed to the selected chord pad.
Song mode allows you to chain these chord patterns together to form songs combining both picking and strumming patterns within the same song. Enable 6/12 string on a particular part to emphesize a pert by adding depth.
Strummer also features a number of audio effects that can be used to enhance the audio from the soundfont player. These include overdrive, distortion, tremolo, chorus, phaser, graphic EQ, digital delay and reverb.

An excellent App which could be improved even more
The functionality of this app is outstanding. However, for me, one addition that would make it even more outstanding would be the ability to save chord chains, chord pads, and custom strumming patterns separately. You need to be careful at the moment to save a chord chain after entering it by doing a general save before doing anything else. I entered a chord chain of 33 chords, didn’t save and then lost the chain by changing a strumming pattern. I understand that the developer is looking to add the ability to include custom chords in a future version. For me this would be brilliant: I could enter complex jazz progression involving tensions, borrowed chords, passing chords, approach chords, secondary dominants, etc. With further development the chord chain could be used to create a complex backing track.

You can! The main load and save buttons at the top of the plugin save everything, the song chain, the chord pads and your custom arpegios in a single song preset. I will be adding the ability to save variations and custom chords in the next version too.
Best app of its kind
Absolutely awesome app. I’ve been looking for something like this for so long. Finally, as a non guitarist I can create realistic riffs and record top quality guitar sounds without the need of other musicians. Highly recommended to any iPad musicians. So why only four stars? Because it is lacking one essential feature...alternative tunings. Please add this feature and make this the must have app of 2020.....
AMAZING UNIQUE UNRIVELED
This is the only app of its kind on aum that does so much.
For us non guitarists the ability to create our own REALISTIC strumming and arpeggio patterns and sequence them into songs is a complete Godsend.
The latest update allows us to play chords on a midi keyboard and translate them into strumming and arpeggio patterns in real time meaning we can use for live gigs. It also means I can use midi strummer from the bass of my Roland accordion, and I will certainly be recommending it to all my accordionist friends worldwide.
