Please note:

MINI Connected is optimised for 2013 and newer model year vehicles. While the app will function as expected on many older models, the availability of certain features may vary.

A mobile Internet connection is required. This can incur costs (e.g. roaming) in accordance with the contract concluded between the customer and the network operator.

Please observe national requirements and conditions specific to the country you are in. For the aforementioned reasons, BMW Group is unable to guarantee unrestricted compatibility and functionality of your mobile device in combination with the vehicle interface. The application is displayed in the car in the language configured for the vehicle.

Continued use of the GPS service running in the background can decrease battery life. If you experience significant battery drain while using MINI Connected, select the lower battery usage option in the Settings menu.

More of a disfunctional gimmick

I’ve had my MINI for about 16 months and set this app up fairly soon after getting the car. In that time I have barely used this app in the most part because every time it updates it loses all your vehicle information and you have to plug in the VIN every time you do that which is a pretty crap user experience. The only feature I have used is viewing the location of my car when it has been in the hands of someone else. I believe there have been some recent updates to the app so I have re-connected my car to it and I’ll see if there are any notable improvements.

Crashes viewing Traffic Information

The App crashes when viewing Traffic, and zooming out beyond 5 miles (ie 25 miles). It crashes both when increasing range on the phone, or when increasing using the Connected menu in the car

Update: Finally the Traffic function is working again. After many emails with ‘Support’, and equally as many messages back denying there was ever a facility to display traffic (on a 2017 full Nav JCW), the HERE traffic display once again shows main road traffic in green/yellow/red etc. Well done, and thank you.

Now, if you could add the missing ‘direction of travel’ view, and auto-zoom from the earlier JourneyMate app, all would be wonderful. And I wouldn’t be so cross about buying a TomTom :-(

Awkward setup but working fine

So after reading negative reviews i was unsure whether it was worth downloading and trying this app with my mini cooper (2016). Well I’m glad i did because after a little perseverance it seems to be working well. The app allows me to pre-plan journeys on the maps on iphone and also stream Spotify/Amazon music (plus others available) via my iphone through the mini.

Here’s what i did. I downloaded the mini drivers guide App first and created an account - linking my car to it.

Then downloaded this connected app and logged in. It crashed or hung a few times but it let me login after a few attempts. But still was not going anywhere. However after plugging iphone into usb in the mini and logging in to app on iphone (and being in the mini connected screen in the car) it worked and allowed me to also sync calendar and contacts. It now seems to be fine.

So YES it does work but you will have to persevere a little. Hope this helps.
