I wanted to share my experience using it in a real clinical setting — during a gynaecology consultation following surgery earlier this month.This appointment was particularly important to me, not just because it was part of my post-surgical care, but because I know the clinician well. I’ve worked with her previously in a PPIE (Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement) role on a medical research project. That familiarity created an open and trusting atmosphere for testing the app. She already knows that I’m dyslexic, and she immediately understood why a tool like Mirror could be valuable in helping me process and retain complex medical information.Before starting the appointment, I briefly explained that I’d be using Mirror to record and summarise the discussion. The clinician was curious and supportive — she said she was interested to see how it worked, especially given our previous collaboration around communication and patient experience.Once the consultation began, I found Mirror surprisingly unobtrusive. I quickly forgot it was running in the background, which allowed me to stay present in the conversation without worrying about taking notes. The summary generated afterwards was accurate, coherent, and structured in a way that made the key points clear — particularly around medication changes, recovery timelines, and next review steps.For someone with dyslexia, that clarity made a tangible difference. Often, after medical appointments, I leave with a swirl of verbal information that’s hard to replay mentally or write down accurately. Having a concise, plain-language summary meant I could go back later and reflect on the discussion with confidence. It also made it easier to share updates with family and to prepare questions for my next appointment.A few reflections from the user perspective:The transition between “recording” and “finished” could be made slightly clearer — a simple visual cue or message to confirm when it’s ready to summarise would help.The interface is clean and intuitive overall, though a brief guided demo or sample summary for first-time users might make the experience even smoother.It might also be useful to allow users to highlight or annotate parts of the summary, as sometimes there are personal notes or reflections that people want to add.What stood out most was the sense of reassurance Mirror provided. It turned what could have been a stressful, detail-heavy appointment into an organised and manageable record — and that’s empowering. It made me feel more in control of my own healthcare experience.I can see Mirror having value well beyond individual consultations — for example, in long-term condition management, multidisciplinary care meetings, or when patients are supporting relatives through complex care plans.Thank you again for creating something that genuinely bridges a gap between communication, accessibility, and confidence in healthcare settings.
