Description

If you are on MacOS 10.15 (Catalina), please allow Screen Recording in System Preferences / Security & Privacy. For assistance, please contact our 24/7 support engineers.

Application to mirror the screen of your Mac to any Sony Bravia Smart TV. No wires and no additional hardware needed! You can also stream individual video files from your Mac to your TV. Also, we included the option to watch one window on your Mac, and another window on your TV!

This works on any Sony Smart TV from the 2012 models onwards.

In using the app, there will be about 1 to 2 seconds of latency. So this mirroring is not suitable for gaming.

However, it is very suitable for watching movies, giving presentations, watching photos, and much more!

The quality of your experience will be dependent on the quality of your local network. Some tips to enhance the experience:

- Preferably, connect your TV by LAN cable to your router.
- Use an "ac" router. If you don't have one, then an "n" router.
- Try not to overload your wifi network by moving big files around while you are mirroring.

How the app works:
First, make sure that your Sony TV is on the same local network and same subnet as your Mac. The TV should not be in screen mirroring mode, but just on "TV" Mode or any HDMI IN port.

After launching the app, you will see the app icon appearing in the top bar of your Mac and the app will look for your TV on the network. It will show your TV when it has found it. Now, you have two options:

Mirror your Mac Screen:
Use this option to put the screen of your Mac on TV. In source, you can select which screen (or attached monitor) you want to display on TV. If you are running multiple applications on your Mac, you can also select which application window you want to see on TV.

Enable Sound: check this to hear the sound of your Mac coming from the TV. You will need the additional (free) audio driver, which you can download here: http://bit.ly/MirrorAudio

Play Video File:
Use this option if you have a video file on your Mac and you want to play just the file on TV. Drop it in the box and it will play on TV.

Settings (the icon in the bottom right of the app): click here to request support from our 24/7 support staff. They usually respond within 2 hours on any query that you might have. If your question is technical, please also include the diagnostics information.

Limitations: Apple has HDCP DRM protection for playing iTunes movies. This means that screen mirroring is not possible when watching movies from iTunes.

When you like the app, please don't forget to give it a positive rating! Thanks in advance from the AirBeamTV development team!

Not happy with this App

I bought this app to mirror videos from my mac to Sony tv. But, I am not happy with this App.

The lag time is very high. And if the mac screen goes off after some idle time, the video stops playing on tv and Netflix is opening.

I have to unlock my mac and restart the video from beginning! Which is most annoying thing.

Developer Response ,

Hi, can you send us your diagnostics information from the app, so we can investigate any problem that you might be experiencing with our app? Our support staff is available 24/7 to help you. Thanks!

Nope. I couldn't get it to work properly

I installed it and it opened OK as described. The first time, I got the MacBook Pro screen to appear on the TV OK, but the picture was fuzzy, an unacceptable quality. My broadband speeds to the internet are 30Mbps download and 10-20 Mbps upload. I reverted to low quality mode on the app. At first it was sharper, then it went fuzzy again.
There was about a one ot two second lag between the Mac and the TV screen. Then I tried restarting the computer and the router. Now I can't get the Mac screen to appear on the TV atall. After 45 mins of trying various things, restarting computer again, etc, I have given up.
Disappointing.
It would really help if te developers would say what WiFi speeds are required to make this work.
Also two things to note:
1) Support is over only over Facebook. (Not everyone has, or wants, a Facebook account. I don't have one)
2) They say "ideally connect the TV to the router using a LAN cable". How? Our TV is a long way from the router.

Developer Response ,

Hello, thanks for your comments. The internet speed on WiFi is not an issue, our app doesn't use the internet, just the local network. Our support team is also available by email (support@airbeam.tv) but a better way is to submit a ticket using the 'sent diagnostic info' from within the app's setting menu. This way our support team will receive a log of the app settings and they will pick it up from there.

From I Mac to smart TV.

Purchased the Mirror for Sony TV app, some months ago and have now had time to assess it and the back up service from the providers. And I could not believe that for the amount I payed for the app, you get great software and the backup, which is also great.

What I can say immediatly is that I was more than pleasantly surprised at the ease of the installation and the way it performed, I had some minor issues with the set up but with the help of the providers, I soon got it sorted. And I am no technophobe.

I did have cause to email them two days ago, due to me loosing some information and the response from them was immediate. And shortly after I was back and running.

So thanks to the technical help people and the software providers.
