Nice

Brilliant little miniature game, decks are set but you are able to pick new cards after a win, as well as pick different “hero units”. Gameplay can be extremely varied, some matches feeling like a tactical chess match, others like brutal trench warfare. Highly recommended.

Only things to improve: a better options menu, a tutorial at least, maybe more variety in miniatures alongside better explanations for what miniature abilities are, and please add a “confirm” menu for ending a turn it’s really easy to accidentally end a turn. Also I would die for a local 2 player mode.

Great game - hard to beat

This is a really nice little game. It takes a while to figure out how everything works but it all clicks into place eventually and the game gets better and better as you appreciate the different possibilities. It’s a really nice strategic game in the vein of classic board games (chess, etc.) although with a somewhat more random element (which can have a huge effect on the outcome) and with the added depth facilitated by being computer-based. It’s simple but complex at the same time. I’m playing it more and more which is probably a bad thing but in the context of a review I guess it’s a good thing :). It’d be great to have a two-player mode (pass and play would be fine initially) at some point too.

Good game with promise

Visually pleasing with simple controls, this is a good thing as there are no instructions. Frustratingly challenging, some may see this as a well designed game as you don’t want to play something that is too easy, but I think this has gone a little too far the other way. If you don’t complete a stage, you have to start all the way back at the beginning again.

There is no option to save your progress and return later, as I found to my disappointment, so you have to carry on playing until you win. An option to turn off the music would be great, even though I appreciate the attention to detail and creativity.

Also found that placing an action on the opponents square often takes numerous attempts as the app can’t seem to decide what square you’re hovering over. This also goes for placing your characters in some cases, it’s like the app can’t track where your finger is.

Overall though I like the concept, it reminds me of ‘Hitman’, similar feel but not quite as polished. With a few tweaks here and there it would be a great addictive game.
