MochiKanji - Learn Japanese 4+

Would defo recommend!

Really enjoying this app. There aren’t many good kanji learning apps out there so was very excited to see this one. What I like about this app…
-laid out like a game with cute imagery that makes you want to play and learn. Other apps can be so dry and boring that you make no progress.
- it marks you. Not a fan of the self marking apps.
- Tests you on one aspect of the kanji rather than all at the same time ( sometimes I know the translation but not the reading or I’ll know one reading not all the possible readings or I may know both of those but I get the spelling wrong… so in self marking apps I don’t know if it counts as a pass or fail. This app tests you on one aspect at a time so you clearly pass or fail and can focus quickly on what you do and don’t know.
- I would say the price is spot on. Any more and it would have put me off but I think the price is reasonable. I like that it gives you some free lessons first as a trial.

Only downside is I’m not sure about onyomi and kunyomi readings but perhaps that’s indicated by katakana and hiragana? Perhaps I’m learning those subconsciously? If so wonderful!

Inconsistencies

I love the app. It is what it’s making me study a lot of kanjis on a daily basis. However there are a few inconsistencies in the app that’s driving me a bit nuts. There a few English mistranslations and sometimes the same translation is repeated in the same kanji or reading, which it’s confusing me even more. E.g.: 岩 and 石 keep being translated as rock and/or stone. 一年間　I think this kanji is translated as “one year” when here 間 shouldn’t imply that’s actually the duration in time? Hence, “for a year”?

Fantastic

This is a fantastic app for learning vocab and actually MEMORISING them! Whilst occasionally there is a small mistranslation, with the amount of vocab you can learn on here - it doesn’t bother me that much. However, small warning, don’t learn a ridiculous amount of words in one day, as your next review will be huge! If you want to expand your Japanese vocabulary, I would recommend!
