Credit to Monese
Been reading many bad comments. Honestly, I’ve been with Monese for 9months now, and I never had an issue so I have never needed to contact the customer service. So far I have only contacted them for once through the app chat about transferring some savings to my family outside of UK. It was a helpful advise given on using a third party app and since then I’ve been transferring money out with very low service charge. Additionally, it is easier to set up an account than other high streets bank which makes whole thing easier for me. And Monese is available to do everything that the other bank can, it’s just having a different method of dealing stuffs.

Appalling customer service, otherwise decent app
This is genuinely the worst customer service I have ever received in my entire life from any company ever. The staff are consistently unhelpful - it is obvious they never actually properly read messages, so their suggestions are often irrelevant. They then take hours in between each message to reply, making this an unnecessarily long system. It took over 5 MONTHS, no exaggeration, FIVE MONTHS for my phone number to be accurately updated in the system, so that when merchants wanted to text me to verify my purchases, I could actually receive the text instead of it going to my old phone number. And this was only because I chased and chased and chased the customer service team, and ended up having to speak to numerous individuals. I would not recommend monese under any circumstance because of this. If you have any issue you are pretty much alone and it’s incredibly frustrating. The only reason I’ve kept my account with them is because I’m a foreign citizen and couldn’t open an account with a brick and mortar bank here in the UK. However, I have recently got a Monzo card and have tried their customer service and it is so much faster, more responsive, and more helpful, so I will likely make the switch over there. Monese is absolutely horrendous.

Worst banking platform in operation - Aviod at all cost
Been a customer with Monese for 5 months in which I only had a working account for the first month. I ordered a card for £5 and after 2/3 weeks of using it, it decided not to work it kept declining every payment, I tried linking the account to Apple Pay which Also didn’t work. When I rang their customer service about the issue and asked for a refund for the card they refused and said that I have to order a new card by paying another £5 which is an absolute joke. The account was no use to me because I could only transfer money, so I open a new account with Lloyd’s and then tried moving all my money to my new account. Monese then place a hold on the transfer , they stated this will be resolved in 24hours. Now it’s been 4 days and I don’t have a penny under my name I have been forced to use credit cards to pay for things. I have emailed monese customer service 4 days ago and I still haven’t received a reply, I also phoned them but I was put on hold for 30mins each time even when the answering machine stated it’s 5min waiting time. If my payment isn’t released I will have no choice but to contact a financial regulating body. Avoid this banking firm at all cost. Shocking customer service and their system isn’t reliable.
