The new MoonBoard App is designed to support the new redesigned MoonBoard website and both standard and LED MoonBoards.
What is the LED MoonBoard?
The MoonBoard LED system brings easy identification of problems to the MoonBoard. Beneath each MoonBoard t-nut position is an LED light, which is controlled by our MoonBoard App. When the user selects a problem on the App, the holds that make up that problem are illuminated by their corresponding LED lights.
Our new LED system gives users access to 1000s of MoonBoard problems in just a tap and a swipe, making the MoonBoard training facility even more user-friendly and accessible than ever before.
What is the MoonBoard App?
Our new (and free) MoonBoard App brings all the benefits of the MoonBoard website to the user’s smart phone or tablet. It also includes several new features. The key features of the MoonBoard App are as follows.
The user can choose the MoonBoard hold set up used on their wall.
Light up problems (LED MoonBoard required).
Easily and quickly add problems.
Simply sort and filter problems.
Grade and rate problems

Ratings and Reviews
Very Hard to navigate in the App. Needlessly complicated. The moon board as a whole is a nice concept but has been executed terribly.
Good idea but app needs work
The app is unintuitive. Imagine you are at the wall and want to try to use this and the gym doesn’t have instructions, nor does the app. It’s a nightmare to figure out how to connect to the board for a start, and when you are connected, how do you find a route and add it to your log, and how do you update the log? The UI needs a COMPLETE overhaul. It’s not fit for purpose.
Suggestion would be for Mr. Moon to hire a team of professional developers with UI experience who are preferably climbers, (or get people from the three disciplines in a room and design the app design and functionality and let the coder develop it).
Love the concept, but as another reviewer said - “poor execution”. Hope they improve it in their next release. I’d like to see a more intuitive interface, some instructions of how to hook up to the board inside the app, and a better way to find and log climbs. Also the search is too stupid, it needs a clever search algorithm so you can still find the route if you use a “e” instead of a “u” in a name or are off by a letter or two. I found that if the spelling is off or sometimes if the case is wring it just wouldn’t find a route?!?
Excellent when paired with the LED system.
I've been using the moonboard for a number of years. Although you could use the app without the LED system it really does come into its own when Paired with the LEDs.
