2D and 3D Titles
• Import 360° media and design 360° titles, generators and effects
• Build 3D titles from scratch, design them with easy-to-use templates, or instantly convert any existing 2D title to 3D
• Easily create beautiful titles that you can animate using more than 100 drag-and-drop behaviours and intuitive text animation tools
• Customise 3D titles to create endless looks with over 90 Apple-designed 3D materials including metal, wood and stone surfaces

Motion Graphics for Final Cut Pro
• Save any title, effect, transition or generator and access it directly in Final Cut Pro
• Customise Final Cut Pro titles, effects and transitions by opening them in Motion
• Create Motion Templates with any combination of single parameters and rigs, which let you control a group of parameters with a slider, pop-up menu or tickbox in Final Cut Pro
• Use Display Aspect Ratio snapshots to create templates that support multiple aspect ratios

Stunning Effects
• Choose from more than 230 behaviours for natural animation without keyframes
• Create an accurate chroma key in a single step with the Keying filter
• Change focus points or the depth effect for video shot in Cinematic mode on iPhone (requires macOS Monterey or later)
• Design your own particle emitters or choose from 200 presets for real-world effects like smoke and sparkles
• Use professional masking tools to quickly draw and adjust control points for rotoscoping
• Automatically detect, track and match the movement of faces or objects using machine learning
• Choose between different tracking analysis types
• Add the Neon filter to easily add a neon glow to text, shapes, video, stills and more
• Harness an ecosystem of third-party FxPlug plug-ins for tasks like advanced tracking, advanced motion graphics and more

Effortless 3D
• Transition from 2D to 3D space by adding cameras
• Create 3D scenes within a 360° project for ultra-realistic 360° environments
• Set up realistic shadows that animate dynamically with the movement of cameras and lights

Powerful app ... feels a little forgotten by Apple

An essential addition for anyone who works in FCPX and does a little bit of motion graphics. Like FCPX itself, one feels that it's not exactly at the top of Apple's priorities (other software always seems to be a year or two ahead at least in terms of features), but I'm a great fan of this ecosystem - especially since third party software like Pixelmator integrates seemlessly too. I don't find Motion terribly pleasant to use for 3D work, and find Blender has much more firepower, but for your "everyday graphical needs" it is, as I say, invaluable. And you can't really complain given the price. Thanks iPhone users for subsidising this little community!

Abandoned Gem

Motion 5 was launched in 2011 and was a great App for 2011, but today feels abandoned. From it's 1980s dropdown zoom tool, which is never the magnification you want nor the place you want to be zooming into, to the unintuative menus, inability to change the layout, restrictive vector editing tools, to the inability to import or export any vectors, to the annoying bugs, like the Image mask layer that dissapears when you move it, vector points that seem to constrain at weird angles when you hold down shift. Object constraints that seem to read your mind and lock to horizontal when you want to constrain vertically and visa versa. Poor interaction with the Magic Mouse, so select a point and inadvertantly move your finger on the surface of the mouse when clicking, and the point moves. I could go on and on.

For the price it is amazing, for an Apple product, it's par for the course now unfortunately... Starts off showing promise, then abandoned for decades. like Siri, Apple Maps, Final Cut Pro etc...

Crashes all the time! And audio is abysmal.

If you look at just the price tag and feature set, this is amazing value for money!

But it crashes all the time. Usually just after I’ve tweaked something and hit space to play: either an instant crash to desktop, or a permanently spinning beachball that means I have to force quit the app. Then restart it, and make the same changes again, and remember to save before trying to see the effect of my changes. It’s endlessly frustrating.

And audio playback in the preview is painfully bad: sometimes crackly; sometimes just not playing the first half second of each audio track; sometimes jumping to full volume for a fraction of a second after a track fades out; and sometimes simply playing the audio completely unsynced with the video. Usually quitting and restarting makes it behave again for a while, but it’s unpredictable. And definitely not the quality I hope for from any app I purchase, let alone an Apple Pro app.
