Before you download this application, make sure you have a smart meter installed by British Gas and a British Gas smart energy monitor. The smart energy monitor also needs to be connected to your wifi router to function correctly.
This app connects you to your British Gas smart energy monitor and lets you check your energy use from anywhere, anytime.
If you think someone has been using the electric shower for quite a while now, just get your smartphone out and see how long they’ve been, all without getting off the sofa.
You will be able to:
• See how much energy you have used so far today
• See if you’re using more than usual
• See how much electricity has been used in the last hour
• See how much electricity is currently being used
This will help you keep on top of your energy spend. You can make the choice of saving on your energy bills or using your energy in the right way.
This app will only work if you have a British Gas smart energy monitor. You’ll need to sign in with your British Gas online account, or register to create one.

Poor Apps & Website
In the time you spend trying to login into either the app or website and top up you can walk down to a shop thats 20-30 minutes away and still not have topped up. The british gas apps are soo bad as is the website. Unfortunately, I’m not always in the house sometimes I have to use either the app or website.
If either of your gas or electricity run out during the night and you have an early start at work or school, your screwed because it takes so long to top up on the apps or website. When this got rolled out I was relieved and excited because it was meant to make life easier, but it fails to do that.
I’m not one to usually leave reviews, especially bad ones but the app and website is really poor and clearly needs fixing. So please can we get this fixed.
You Have to be Privileged to Use This App
I am a BG customer, have been for about 15 years I believe. I have a smart meter installed, and HIVE. Liked the idea of this app and so installed it and signed in. Appears you can only use this app if you have been privileged enough to be invited by BG as part of this pilot. Seems being a customer for 15+ years of always paying my bills is not good enough for BG. Disappointed. Come on BG! You have enough money out of me, how about letting this app be used by ALL your customers.
Worst App Ever
Appalling app, spent ages just trying to log on and it keeps moving screens on it own, doesn’t recognise my confirmed password and even when you reset for the 1000’s time.....guess what it still doesn’t work. Don’t even get me started on trying to talk to someone about it, long call times 1h+, then completely incompetent staff that can’t offer any advice other have you tried resetting your password or uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Stay away if you can!
