Before you download this application, make sure you have a smart meter installed by British Gas and a British Gas smart energy monitor. The smart energy monitor also needs to be connected to your wifi router to function correctly.
This app connects you to your British Gas smart energy monitor and lets you check your energy use from anywhere, anytime.
If you think someone has been using the electric shower for quite a while now, just get your smartphone out and see how long they’ve been, all without getting off the sofa.
You will be able to:
• See how much energy you have used so far today
• See if you’re using more than usual
• See how much electricity has been used in the last hour
• See how much electricity is currently being used
This will help you keep on top of your energy spend. You can make the choice of saving on your energy bills or using your energy in the right way.
This app will only work if you have a British Gas smart energy monitor. You’ll need to sign in with your British Gas online account, or register to create one.

Poor Apps & Website
In the time you spend trying to login into either the app or website and top up you can walk down to a shop thats 20-30 minutes away and still not have topped up. The british gas apps are soo bad as is the website. Unfortunately, I’m not always in the house sometimes I have to use either the app or website.
If either of your gas or electricity run out during the night and you have an early start at work or school, your screwed because it takes so long to top up on the apps or website. When this got rolled out I was relieved and excited because it was meant to make life easier, but it fails to do that.
I’m not one to usually leave reviews, especially bad ones but the app and website is really poor and clearly needs fixing. So please can we get this fixed.
Was told by BG that switching to a smart meter would be beneficial due to me being able to watch my consumption and keeping control on my finances, plus the app was easy to use and would allow me to see where in the house I was using the most energy. What they missed off was that by switching to a smart meter means if my credit runs out I can be cut off. Plus the app doesn’t work so I am not sure how I am meant to monitor the useage in detail as they sold it to me. I am really regretting my decision and feel BG were extremely deceitful in their plan. I really regret switching and it’s only been a couple of days! Traditional meters are much more efficient and much less of a head ache! You live and learn.
What is going on. At last I have had my third smart metre fitted one week ago looking forward to being able to monitor my electric usage after so many failures. Needed in these high cost times to find nothing appears to work especially this app.
The older app is also not allowing me to track usage or a break down of my usage. This must mean my monitor or smart metre are not functioning. Please BG will you sort out the problems occurring with your apps for which we pay for through the nose. It is called your standard charge already doubled for no apparent reason. Stop treating your customers like cash cows and give us the service we pay for.
