Description

This is the successor the the popular, award-winning, best selling, doctor recommended pain tracking app, My Pain Diary: Chronic Pain & Symptom Tracker.

This version, My Pain Diary: GOLD EDITION, strikes a delicate balance between ease-of-use and a broad feature-set. This is a truly USEFUL app, and the newest member of the My Pain Diary family, which has helped over 90,000 chronic pain sufferers better manage their pain, improve communication with their doctors, and gain insights that would be hard attain through other means.

Useful and popular features include automatic weather fetching, iCloud sync, basic medication tracking, photo attachments, graphs and PDF doctor's reports.

This app is highly customizable. Everyone tracks pain differently, and this is a framework that supports just about any tracking strategy.

Created by a chronic pain patient to track, manage, and report on chronic pain and symptoms, chronic illness, and mental health.

That means there is no big company with deep pockets supporting this project. I am just one man with a chronic pain condition, a demanding day job, and a young family to care for. I just happen to be formally trained in design, self-taught in programming, experienced at marketing and customer relations, and am a chronic pain patient myself. That's a very rare combination of traits that is hard to come by, so I'm making the most of it, and holding my own against the big players.

Enough about me, back to the app!

Features:
+ iCloud Sync Support
+ Universal App
+ Highly Customizable
+ Easy to use
+ Track unlimited conditions
+ Track multiple/unlimited times per day
+ Add past entries (change entry timestamp)

ANATOMY OF A PAIN DIARY ENTRY

TRACKERS: Trackers can be thought of as labels or folders that categorize and differentiate your entries. These are the key to tracking more than one condition and comparing conditions to each other.

A common strategy is to name the Trackers after the diseases/conditions that you will be tracking. I.e. Migraines, Anxiety, Fibromyalgia, etc. These are just examples.

METRICS: Each entry is composed of one or more optional pieces of information called 'Metrics'. For example, two commonly used metrics are 'Pain Intensity' and 'Pain Duration'. Metrics are associated with and shared amongst your Trackers. This means that you can set it up to use different metrics for different Trackers, keeping your entry pages clean and the cognitive load low.

DoctorFinlay ,

Very solid app with customisable features

Got this as I need to keep a pain diary for the next six months to track my sciatica after a procedure. It took about five minutes to set up and is easy to use. I wish the app had reminder notifications to log pain etc at certain times of the day if you haven’t logged anything yet. Nice work though!

Perfect!

The customisable features make this app really stand out from the crowd. I'm only 2 weeks into using it but I can't find anything to gripe about!
Update 4 months into using: I don't even think I could contain all of my positive thoughts about this application into words. My doctors, consultants, and even my partner all absolutely love this app. It really helps be able to identify trends that you would not normally have otherwise picked up on especially when you have fluctuating conditions like Myalgic Encephelomyelitis, Functional Neurological Disorder/Symptoms, joint hypermobility syndrome (EDS-HT) or Ehlers Danlos syndrome type iii and chronic pain. I do a lot of patient support for rare diseases and I look very forward to recommending this app to all of my members!

The only improvement I could possibly think of would be if I could download it onto my iPad as well to be able to enter data to the same account on the iPhone or the iPad and it would all sink. It's quite possible you are ready have this feature and I just haven't found it yet but that would be my only improvement idea!

Great app, very helpful

I was looking for an easy way to keep a pain diary. Having previously tried a paper diary and not finding too great I saw this and thought would give a go. I wanted something tangible so I could look back and see how I’ve been and that could be shown to Drs/ consultants etc in an easy format. This app definitely fits the bill so far. I don’t usually write reviews but after only a week find this great. It’s easy to use and very easy to modify and tailor to you specifically. I love the fact it records the weather for that day as that can have an impact for me. I also like the fact it’s not just for pain but can add other conditions eg mine is set for pain, depression, migraines and IBS. And with the event log and ability to make notes it gives a great all round view. As well as the report features that allows you to view and print out. Once you have it set up it takes only a few minutes to complete each time you use. If you’re looking for a good all round pain dairy I would definitely give this a go
