Description
This app is for use in research studies examining how diet, exercise and sleep affect health and healing. Our body contains circadian (circa – approximately and dian – day) or 24 h clocks that determines the time to sleep, feel hungry or get ready for physical activity. Research studies run in different locations are trying to understand the interaction between “how much” and “when” we sleep, eat or exercise for better health. You need an activation code from these research studies to download and use the app.
Following are the key features:
- Camera function to snap picture of everything you eat or drink
- Sleep tab to record time to bed and time of waking up
- Exercise tab to log physical activity
- Personalized food menu
- Health tab to log and monitor health parameters
- Medication reminders
- Feedback with the research coordinator
- Integrated healthkit framework to track your health information.

Great Idea But Too Many Functionality Problems
I have read the book which was really informative and was looking forward to using this app. I have tried to log my day with this app every day but it is constantly frustrating me.
The app will suddenly close in mid use and when I try to reopen it I get spinning hands on the clock but it doesn’t open. I close it from my home page , open in the app store sometimes it works , sometimes the hands are spinning again and it won’t open. If I delete and install again I lose my data. I already lost sleep data when the new version installed.
Also because there is no ability to view your daily list of entries in food and bev when I try to open app the next day and add missing entries ( that I couldn’t previously because the app crashed) I have no idea what I logged and what I didn’t.
Tried again to update yesterday and today. Crashed AGAIN. Re-Opened in app store- Got as far as sleep section and crashed again and I got the spinning clock. That was the third attempt today. I give up.
Please fix the functionality or tell me what I am doing wrong as this is very irritating. I have fitbit prime and other health apps but have never had these problems and I am losing patience.
Great research, great book, appalling app
I have persisted with this app, in spite of it being probably the worst interface I have ever used. You have to be forgiving, determined and really quite dedicated to use it.
The photo function is unreliable, retrospectively adding fitness data or content is very patchy. It locks. It saves your data before it’s complete. If it weren’t for it being such an important academic initiative I certainly wouldn’t bother.
Please please for the sake and integrity of your research find another university that does programming and get them to cooperate in building you a solid, intuitive, usable app. Even as a project for students.
Use your academic status and reach to get this right. You will get so many more participants and that can only help them and help you. It will be also perfect your data.
If you can’t get any help then put out a notification to your thousands of users and ask for help. There will be someone out there with the skills and interest to do it, even without payment.
The circadian app
This interests me greatly and to have an opportunity to take part was mind blowing .so got the app the biggest grumble I have is I’m only 8 days in the app will not stay on the screen long enough to record any meals it shuts down ? I’ve redownloaded 4 times now and it’s no better?? it’s the best way to achieve your healthier you but cannot log anything I’ve given it 3 stars for it’s a brilliant idea would help thousands of people I really want to give it not even one because it doesn’t record any meals just the odd one which it’s not helpful to the research and more importantly to find out how my circadian codes working please fix !! love you work dr panda ! 🥰 shall try again in a few weeks Lorraine
