MyGearVault is the best way to “Input • Organize • Protect” your gear!
MyGearVault is a FREE app designed to help photographers and videographers from professionals, to amateurs, to even hobbyists, know what they have and what it’s worth.
Quickly and securely input all of your gear into your personal vault. We’ve made it easy for you to store all the important information about your gear. Store and verify your serial number, picture of your receipt, date purchased and much more. Even if your item doesn’t have a serial number ,you can still add it to your vault.
We know you have a lot of gear, that’s why we help you organize it in a few unique and effective ways. First, each item can be saved into a specific category (i.e. Cameras, Lens, Computers, Data Storage, etc.). When you click on a category, you will see the total value of items based on the gear inside. Secondly, you can create custom kits of gear, like a wedding kit, travel kit, studio kit, video kit and more. This is a great way to know the value of gear you’re taking with you.
Protect your gear. Get piece of mind that your gear has a level of protection when it’s stored inside your vault. For example, if your camera is stolen, simply click the “stolen” button inside the app and your serial number will be entered into our stolen database. If someone tries to verify your lens as their own, we will be notified.

Good Idea But Confusing At First Use
I didn’t understand certain elements of this app at first, but after adding more kit I soon realised more categories are created automatically as you add more kit. It seemed more logical to me to add kit to categories rather than categorise kit as it’s added, but that just may be my IT brain! There was confusion trying to work out what the difference is between kit and gear, and the ready examples of gear are a little weird. I’m not sure people would categorise their gear in the way set out by the examples. After a while though, I realised it is a very useful app and it’s free so moaning about it in any non constructive way seems very unfair to me. Well done Jared, all in all very good and will only get better.

Using this a lot now. Extremely useful ap and amazingly helpful particularly on location. I’m a pro cinematographer in constant need of tweaking kits and this is the only real ap out there for guys like me. Can’t recommend enough. Only reason I’ve given 4 and not 5 stars is because I can’t print out the pics stored in the ap with my lists. Heard this was going to update soon. Please hurry to add this feature.
Great idea, still needs work
Having recently been burgled and lost a camera and lens combo, discovering this app was very timely. The concept is fantastic but having had to deal with insurance companies there is a major flaw in the pricing information held for your equipment. Unless I have completely missed it, there needs to be an additional field which allows you to enter a “replacement value“. The price you pay for piece of kit is never going to be the same as the replacement value, as I discovered to my detriment when the insurance company failed to pay out in full for a claim.
Currency fluctuations can massively affect replacement values and if you find that you are under insured, the insurance company can take you to the cleaners.
