I live in New Romney actually the coast at Littlestone and watch the ships passing through the channel all day long. It’s simple to click on the ship or boat icon and then look at a picture of the ship and read where it came from and it’s heading combining the vessel tracker shows you what’s going on in the English Channel which is fascinating. But that’s just the start looking around the globe you can see all the ships the resent suez channel problem showed how many ships were waiting and the problem caused by that major delay. Very useful sitting anywhere and looking out to sea especially at night you can see where the lightships are moored and the channel markers . Fishing vessels come from all directions you can see how far these they travel to bring us fresh fish and look at the tracking to see they transverse the sea back and forth. Plus it’s all free.

This app has proved to be one of the most reliable I’ve come across...even better than apps I have paid for. My grateful thanks to the originators. As I live very near the coast overlooking the English Channel in Bournemouth, we often have rescue helicopters in the area and they are marked with their own little icon. Very innovative indeed!
