Nice app but some gaps

I’ve just bought a new Vauxhall hybrid car so have started using the app.
Likes: My car was already in the “garage” on the web version and named correctly, but in the app it classes my car as a Grandland X, rather than a Grandland… wouldn’t be so much of an issue except my last car was a Grandland X and that was also in the app. Can set the timer for overnight charging easily and also for cabin preconditioning. Gives data on journeys. I’ll use this to work out what proportion of my mileage is being dad taxi! 😀 Able to send preplanned journey destination via the app so it’s there when the car is started.
Dislikes: As others have mentioned, having to give permission every time I get into the car for the app to connect. Journey data gives fuel consumption figures for petrol but no data on number of kWh used. I liked the fact it asked me for the cost of the fuel I’d put in so it could estimate the cost of my journeys, but I wasn’t able to do this immediately as I’d started driving and there seemed to be no way of adding it at the end of my journey. Also it hasn’t asked me the cost of the electricity I’m putting in, so it doesn’t really give a true reflection of cost.
Having access to the user manual would also be good.

Could be better

My response to your response. I was advised to email an address that the auto response says this email is closed and not monitored. I then used the contact us on Vauxhall website and got fobbed of to tell the branch so circle of avoidance is complete.

This app is incredibly limited in an age where other brands have massive improvements compare to this. When this app first came out, we were told that it would be able to control different parts of the car, this is definitely not the case. If you use Apple CarPlay, then this renders the my Vauxhall app completely useless. As soon as CarPlay is activated it disconnect the app from the car. It’s absolutely ridiculous that you need permission every time to open the app just to get going. Why can’t this app run in the background? Why can’t this app connect to my car every time without a problem? I am lucky if it works 50% of of time at best.I had my car serviced in January, and the app still says my car is overdue a service. I was told by the dealership that this would be sorted within a week of the service happening. Two months later, still not happened. They need to deal with this situation where it disconnects if you use Apple CarPlay. They also need to deal with the fact that the app should be running in the background and not asking to run every single time you start your car. Absolutely ridiculous. This app has so much potential but just seems to be a half arsed attempt.

Finding it best to pretend the app doesn’t exist

I have a Vivaro-e battery electric. The app is messy, especially compared those created for other electric vehicles. Most of the app’s functions are confusing or superfluous (the app feels more like a website than a control app), so the main thing you’re likely to use it for is to monitor charging progress from outside the vehicle. One big limitation of course is that there’s no cellular connectivity on the van, so the app connects via Bluetooth, and the Bluetooth range is pretty sketchy. It certainly used to work ok standing right next to the front of van but a lot less reliably standing 20 feet behind it. But any app is better than no app, right? Well, as long as it works, yes. Problem is it has now stopped working altogether, apart from when I’m inside the van with my phone connected by USB. When I first got the van I could fairly reliably connect over Bluetooth (with a bit of patience anyway) but now I get no connection at all. I don’t understand what’s changed. Frankly i find it best to assume the app won’t work and just get in the van when I want to see how charging is progressing. I’m giving the app two stars because I assume at some point it’ll start working again. But right now I’m pretending the app doesn’t exist - it saves me a lot of time if I don’t launch it and expect it to work.
