Decent but lacking scope

App works very well for info on places nearby, with a few filtering options, but that’s all it does.

• No digital membership card, and plastic card can’t be loaded to phone wallet.
• No way of adding places to lists, eg must see / seen / go again etc.
• Downloadable maps vary greatly from the ones handed out at the gate - eg numbering of locations around the grounds isn’t consistent, which caused much confusion.
• no consistency in pricing section to show what is free with a membership and what isn’t, leading to doubts about visiting certain locations.
• from what I can see, the handbook adds nothing extra if you have the app or vice versa. So at point of membership purchase allow people to choose which they prefer. It would save paper and printing costs.

Looking at other reviews, some of my points have been made by others, sometimes years ago. Developer response is either completely off the mark, or promises an item is coming. When that feature still doesn’t exist 2 years on, you’ve failed the user.
I would imagine one of the main targets these days is getting the younger generation more interested - without a decent app you’ve failed before you even start.

Do a thorough UX study to find out what people want, and then make it happen. Don’t deprecate features before the replacement can go live. I’m sure you have a decent dev team, and could even count on some volunteers. There’s just no excuse for the lack in functionality.

Great App

Loving the app so far, nice and simple and makes it so easy to choose your next visit. A few suggestion from me: - A ‘Discover’ page to find new places which you wouldn’t see based on your location, but you might consider working in to your next trip. This could also encourage visits to less known sites. - Icons or tags to highlight key elements of a site: grounds for walking on, a property to look around, gardens, cafe etc. as it is nice to have that information immediately. - It would be good to be able to change the location of your searches. This is essentially what the map is doing but I would like if I could temporarily select a new location, say if I’m going on holiday in the UK. I could then see sites closest to me for when I’m there. - Make sure every location has at least one image - Mobile tickets and passes (I know you’re already working on this) Thanks and Keep up the good work!

Map Download does not work on iPhone or iPad

I have been trying to download a dog walking map for one of your properties near to me. It does not give me the option of where to save the map. It does not appear in downloads nor anywhere else on iCloud or local device file system. I eventually found it in recents but the only options available are to put it in books or print it. Useless! Move is greyed out. I have come to the conclusion it is sandboxed in some way. I have no wish to print something all green that covers a page with expensive printer ink that I will lose and forget to take with me being a pensioner. What I would like is to be able to save somewhere I can find it, to pinch and zoom on my iPhone while at the property. I have come across no other app failing in this way. Otherwise I am happy with the app telling me what is open when.
