NETGEAR Orbi - WiFi System App 4+

Had this system for the last 12 months & it has been great!. Setup was easy using the app & Scanning the qr codes. I found it best to turn off the WiFi on my ISP’s router to stop any conflicts. My Orbi system has 2 satellite units & was having difficulty with the 2nd satellite in the kitchen has it was losing the signal now & again. I had a pair of net gear power line adapters which I used to connect my kitchen satellite & my problem was solved! All I had to do was updated the firmware first ( just clicked a button on the menu & it did it automatically), connected the Ethernet cable from the Orbi router to the power line adapter & in the kitchen, connected the other Ethernet cable to the other power line adapter & kitchen satellite. Now I’ve got WiFi all over the house & even down to the bottom of my large garden.
My house was built in the 1600s so the walls are very thick & I can get my WiFi signal all over & it is fast. I have 12 things connected at once & there’s no drop in the Internet speed!. I know the Orbi system is expensive but it is worth the money compared to other Mesh systems on the market.

We’ve had 2 years of poor wi-if coverage around the house. It is a solidly built 3 bed semi. We rely heavily on broadband for streamed music and it kept dropping out, the players falling off the network and iPhones losing the network to control them. Changed broadband providers and still no better. Bought wi-fi extenders, both using the mains and also re-amplifying the wireless signal, still not working Contemplated getting a more powerful router but in the end decided to take the gamble of purchasing the Orbi RBK50 and satellite receiver and once I managed to install it which meant plugging it into my Fritz box router and turning the wi-fi off on that (thank you Zen for the advice) it works great! The music hasn’t dropped out once, the bass unit & satellite automatically balance the load seamlessly and me & my girl are using all our devices without a hitch. Really glad I bought the Orbi, loads of features like the app e.g. a speed test, a list of devices connected, a guest wi-fi option, a graphic image showing everything is working at maximum strength & efficiency. Very happy indeed!

Bought this over a year ago but recently had my Virgin hub 2ac modem/router changed over to a hub 3 , due to no end of problems ( constant drop outs necessitating resets, calls to fault line) after thought I’d try putting Virgin hub into modem mode and try the ORBI again. After a bit of trial and error and consulting www about DHCP and how to wire up ORBI, TL-LINK switch and hub 3 got it all working correctly. Wow what a difference, great speed all over the house and my internet has been rock solid with no drop outs whatsoever since. Could I suggest it would be an easy win for Netgear to provide an ‘idiots’ guide walk thru of how to use the ORBI when putting Virgin hubs into modem mode ! Also the bundled Netgear Armor service looks / appears to offer great functionality but 30- day trial is a bit stingy and would of thought 6- months free subscription noting the kit isn’t cheap would be fairer ! Overall very impressed with my ORBI mesh system and would definitely recommend anyone utilising the Virgin Hub 3 experiencing sort of problems I had to try it.
