A surprisingly competent and fleshed out arcade racer. Physics generally feel fluid once you’re used to the quirks of the tilt steering. Tracks are heavily inspired by real life F1 circuits which can be a blessing and a curse; I’m constantly expecting the Kemmel straight on Belgium and end up overshooting the corner :) I love the AI racer names as references to various drivers.I have minor gripes, like slipstreaming requiring a perk instead of just being part of the core physics engine, and the auto tire change perk blocking manual refuelling making it actively detrimental, but these are small issues in the grand scheme of things. The game tends to be on the easy side, but it’s capable of throwing a few curveballs your way at times. Well worth going into the settings and tweaking the assists to your liking; the auto brake is very overzealous by default and it’s much more fun set to one notch.
I absolutely love this game it is so well detailed and the AI difficulty progression makes it so much better there are so many little details that can impact so much just like the real racing in f1 for example the relationship between drivers also affects how aggressive they race and overall has a good feel to the gameplay. For me though it’s missing one thing which would be online multiplayer races this would absolutely complete the game and make me play and love it so much more so please if you could take this into consideration I would love to give it 5 stars and I’m sure this is not the first time you’ve thought about it although I know and play most of your games so a multiplayer mode for this game is highly unlikely but I would still appreciate it the most if you would at least consider it because I feel like it would make the game so much better and more complete that it already is. Thank you
In my opinion this is one of the better racing games on the App Store but there’s one thing holding it back from being the best, the steering. Normally for other racing games I play I turn the sensitivity down from the base game sensitivity however with NewStarGP I have my all the way to the max and it still feels awful, the wheels don’t turn enough to a point where every corner I have to go so slowly just to make sure I don’t come off the track, it shouldn’t be like that I shouldn’t have to go from 180MPH to 20MPH just to turn around a small corner. Just increase the sensitivity and this would be the best Racing game on the App Store
I enjoy the general idea of it. It’s a well thought out game and I enjoyed my track time. However, the lag is unbearable. The game crashed on lap 5/6 on my first race, disappointing because I was leading. If you want higher performance from the game, expect the game to freeze frequently, and when you get close to a car. If you want consistent performance from the game, expect it to be very, very slow. I am disappointed because I would love to play this some more, and the time that I spent, besides the freezing, was enjoyable. My suggestion is maybe to improve performance on all devices? I would love to reinstall this app in 4-6 months time and see major improvements to the lag, as this is definitely the closest thing to a proper Formula 1 game on mobile that I’ve seen in a while.
Have put a lot of hours into this on console and I'm amazed at how complete the ported experience is. Controls feel great, game looks great and the racing is still stellar. Really hope it succeeds on here the team deserves it, wish it got more traction on the major platforms.Just a note, there could be some improvements made in terms of pick up and play. With championships, which are the easiest way to get straight into racing how and where you want, I wish it would save a) your inputted name and b) custom championship settings. The game is at its best full difficulty with long tracks and the minute or two setting that up really eats into mobile time.
The game itself is awesome - lots of fun and the retro style is beyond beautiful. I like the little decision trees with your support staff and the progress through the decades is great. The biggest problem is this though; Why why why can’t I play across my iPad and iPhone?? It’s 2025. The missing game centre achievements (even though there is a trophy room full of your achievements in the actual game so this surely would be something to cross pollinate?) is annoying, but not being able to pick up and play on my iPad after multiple races on my iPhone is an absolute miss. Please add this in an update, I beg you.
