HEAR WHAT NEIGHBOURS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT NEXTDOOR
“Nextdoor is an amazing app. It connects you to your immediate community. I had a lost pet and it immediately was met with concern and suggestions and support. Besides that it’s just a positive thing for communication and interaction. I’m so glad I downloaded the Nextdoor app.!!!!” - App review
“Fantastic platform for meeting neighbours, finding out local news or finding recommendations for local businesses! The ability to interact with the neighbours and being involved in the community is priceless! Highly recommend!” - App review
“I really enjoy using the Nextdoor app because it helps me stay in the know and know what’s going on in my area. Also it’s a great way to help others locally” - App review
“Before Nextdoor, I didn’t know there were several qualified babysitters living nearby and looking for work. It was easy to feel comfortable hiring my neighbour’s daughter to watch my son after school.” - App review
“This Spring, we decided to sell lots of old appliances, tools, clothing and electronics on Nextdoor. In no time, our neighbours stopped by to make a deal and take things off our hands. It was easier than anything else and it feels good knowing our old stuff has found a new home in the neighbourhood.” - App review
OUR MISSION
To make every neighbourhood feel like home.
Our mission is to make every neighbourhood feel like home. We do this by connecting neighbours to the local gems around them – people, places, and information. These local connections improve our lives by fostering a sense of community and belonging no matter where we live.
YOUR PRIVACY
Nextdoor is a trusted environment where all neighbours are verified, making it safe to share online the kinds of things you'd be okay sharing with your neighbours in person.
Here's how:
• Every neighbour verifies their address when they join Nextdoor
• All members go by their real names, just like in person
Continued use of Location Services running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Nextdoor doesn't run Location Services in the background unless you give us permission by turning on optional features that require it.

This may be pure coincidence. But I doubt it. Since installing this app a couple of years ago. I’ve not been able to shut my account down. I have had hundreds of spam/fishing scam emails that I never used to get since installing this app. I have also had an increase in cold callers ringing my phone during my work hours and two attempts at accessing my bank account through digital transactions claiming to be the Apple App Store. A while ago I tested a theory and went onto the Nextdoor app and spent around 30 minutes just browsing all the hate racism and negativity that’s posted on it. After leaving the app I opened my emails to find I had to log into my email account as it had flagged six failed attempted logins whilst I was in the app. Shortly after I received a notification of a failed charge to my iTunes account for £12:99. It was listed as an itinerary nes purchase. So I contacted Apple support whoCould find no record of any charge to my account. I now have Apple investigating what data is shared and sold by the Nextdoor app. The charge to my account was not a one off. It has happened a number of times but I never realised it could have been linked to the app until I started to put 2 and 2 together and finally realised it was only happening when this app is active.

Bugs never get fixed, what are they updating?
Promised2Us
Superficial updates. Fix the functionality. so many different updates over the year and they still haven’t fixed the same problems they just change the way the app looks. whenever I’m searching for an item it only shows me a hand select full of items. Every time I increase the radius within which I want to look at items, it still shows my one scroll full of items and keeps changing the radius limit. The pull down is in km but I thing it changes to miles but still says km! I don’t know but I hope that’s true as the radius would remain the same (32m = 50km). Either way, who cares whether it changes or not as you can’t even see mosteach of the listings that are in that radius. There’s also a red notification bubble that I can’t ever get rid of, that’s been there for over a year. I’ve read through all the messages and it still doesn’t go away.Still, love that the app exists. Realistically, it should probably rate it a 3 star but the item listings is what I primarily use the app for. I know it’s buggy as I click through from other sites to the item that I’m looking at and it is will within my selected distance, but when I go to search for it, there’s like 25~50 items within a 50km radius. Make it make sense. It’s probably not the primary focus for the developers but you’ve had this for so long now.i I know development takes time but this is core to your search function and you’re fumbling hard. Why do you strive to make us hate using the app that’s supposed to connect people in a/all neighbourhood/s?

Disappointing and depressing to find out who you live amongst

Don’t think I’ve written an app review before, such is my disappointment with this app. I live in a nice area; I was hoping that it would be heartwarming to see how my community join together and a good way to get involved with the community or find people with similar interests but frankly wish I hadn’t joined because I’ve discovered how sneery and judgemental some of my neighbours are at heart. The amount of neighbours who jump to conclusions and think the worst of people in our community are too widespread. It largely becomes a wingeing forum. I’ve mostly been just a passive observer but sometimes I pick people up on their comments and then it’s a pile-on to me. This also occurred when I’ve posted a question - the arrogant and demeaning replies left me feeling negative. I’ve not seen overtly racist comments. The for sale listings were fine (unlike in some other reviews) but you can get that functionality on other common platforms. I suppose the only positive was the lost and find- frequently lost bank cards or keys or pets finding their way back to their owner. All in all the negatives far outweigh the positives and made me sad that these are people I live amongst, so I’ve deleted the app and deactivated the account. I’m feeling better already; I guess ignorance is bliss. We’ll just have to hope we don’t lose bank cards or keys!

Hi neighbour,Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear about the negative posting in your area, along with posts that go against the guidelines. It's a real shame when this happens because we want the platform to be a useful and helpful tool to bring your community together.Nextdoor do not moderate content centrally, with nearly three million neighbours we rely on neighbours and leads to report any violations to us directly. If you do notice any violation of our Community Guidelines, you can either report content, report neighbour or get in touch with us directly here; Bit.ly/contactNextdoor and we promise to help you as soon as possible.Hopefully we can help resolve any issues you are having and it would be great to see you give Nextdoor another try and connect with your neighbours!Mollie, Nextdoor Support
Quite Disturbing

I thought this app sounded a good idea. And potentially it could be a beneficial community resource. I’ve seen a couple of good outcomes as a result of the app. However, the advantages are outweighed by the negatives. The reality is the way in which my particular community uses it (and I’ve seen reviews discussing similar concerns in numerous other neighbourhoods) simply highlights the bigotry, racism and arrogance of my neighbours. For example, God forbid should there be a non-White person seen at someone’s door or a White person perhaps in a hoodie who doesn’t quite look middle-class enough, because that person’s photo could end up on the site with everyone suggesting the criminal intentions they are likely to have been harbouring. Horrible allegations are constantly made about people with little to no evidence. While a few rational neighbours will comment on such problematic assumptions and allegations, they’ll likely then in turn be subject to disparaging comments and nastiness. It’s so upsetting. Until there is more rigorous monitoring and handling of these issues, this resource will continue to compound societal division and fuel racism, snobbism and bullying.

Hi neighbour, thank you for taking the time to write us such an honest review of communication in your neighbourhood. Nextdoor's aim is to connect neighbours so that they can communicate in a way that is civil, constructive and builds community. It is clear that this is not the case. We would love to look into this further and make your Nextdoor Neighbourhood a welcoming community to be a part of. Please do contact us http://bit.ly/contactNextdoor and one of the team will be in touch. Eloise, Nextdoor Support
