Description

The official NHS Wales digital asthma action plan.
This app is recommended for adults with a diagnosis of asthma, irrespective of how severe or under control their asthma may be. This app is for adults & adult services and is usually advised for those over 18.
Evidence suggests that people with asthma who have an asthma care plan are significantly less likely to need hospital care for their asthma. They are also more likely to have a better quality of life to engage in their favourite activities and hobbies.

Asthmahub is developed and updated with NHS asthma specialists. It is designed to support you to stay well and to spot when your asthma is deteriorating before any urgent action is required. The aim is that all patients with asthma stay symptom-free, which involves easy access to an up-to-date asthma plan.
Registration with the app is free and involves putting in minimal information to ensure the app is personalised to you. No information is shared with any third party, but anonymised data will support improvement efforts to local clinical services and it may also contribute towards population-based asthma research.

This app is freely available and can be downloaded for use now. It includes:
- A digital asthma plan, medications and how to take them
- A decision support tool to help manage your symptoms
- Tools to monitor symptoms and peak flow diaries
- General education about keeping you well and symptom-free
- Videos from the experts providing general strategies for managing triggers and symptoms
- A log of important asthma information to discuss with your healthcare professional
- Diary and medication reminders
- Your asthma contacts list

NEW for Version 2.0:
- A monthly Asthma Checker to monitor your asthma control in between annual reviews.
- A checklist to ensure you receive the very best care when visiting your GP or attending hospital appointments.
- An option for Healthcare Professionals to easily sign up

The app promotes self-management and helps you take control of your asthma symptoms. It has been developed with collaboration and feedback from patients & healthcare professionals.

If you have any questions, please contact us at support@healthhub.wales, we aim to reply within 3 working days.

The information and advice on this app are put together and updated by specialists within the NHS, so it is always as accurate as possible. The content and education in the App is provided for general information and it is not intended to amount to advice on which you should solely rely upon. Great app but can’t enter birthdate before 2011!

I was shown the app by my son’s respiratory nurse today at our appointment. It looks really useful but I haven’t been able to enter my son’s details as I can’t register with a date of birth before 2011. Would also love to see the app accommodate multiple user accounts in future (eg. My son and I both have asthma but are on different treatments - I’d love to keep track of both plans in the one app).

Hi Sarah,

I'm glad you are enjoying the app.

Asthmahub is usually recommended for adults with Asthma. If you would like to use an app for your son I would suggest using Asthmahub for Parents, you will be able to put in his date of birth in this app with no problem. If you have any difficulties please email us at: support@healthhub.wales

Great app!

This app is fantastic! GP appointments are often short and they don’t have time to go through the ins and outs of your asthma all the time so app fills lots of gaps in info for me. It’s also so useful to track my asthma and identify possible triggers I’d not thought of like the weather for example. The way it breaks down the different levels of your asthma both qualitatively and quantitatively is also incredibly helpful.

Nice app but weird sign-up issue

The app seems really good and collects the right info and at the right frequency. Had an odd experience during sign up on iOS - the password create and confirm offered me different characters to choose from. Really odd and entering information was very slow - phone okay on other apps email etc. Not sure if it is related to iOS version.

Developer Response ,

Thank you so much for your review, we're always grateful for feedback! We're glad you're enjoying using the app, we fully investigate any less than optimal user experience so if you're able to provide us with more details about the sign up issues you had by emailing us at support@healthhub.wales and we can look deeper into this.
