NieR Re[in]carnation 17+

I’ve always been a fan of the NieR series, playing all three of the previous titles. when i heard the series was going to receive a mobile title i have to admit i was skeptical as i didn’t want my favourite series to be tainted by a sub-par mobile game but wow was i proved wrong. reincarnation is a solid title in the series with a mysterious yet engaging storyline with likeable characters and a good about of traditional yoko taro tragedy. the gacha mechanics are actually enjoyable and youre never forced to spend money or even watch ads, it’s essentially completely free to play. NieR fan or not, i 100% recommend trying this game for yourself. it is an enjoyable title for those already interested in the series who will enjoy returning characters and limited time quest lines whilst also catering to an audience who have never heard of the franchise making it the perfect gateway into the rich world of NieR.

I’ll try to keep my review short and sweet

Story: 10/10 it’s beautiful, at certain points they actually made me tear up.
Visuals: 10/10 also beautiful, as a Nier game I expect nothing less, even playing on low graphics keep the visuals beautiful.
Audio: 8/10 the music, voices and fighting sounds are all great, it’s one of those game where you actually keep the sound on when you play/grind.
Gameplay: 7/10 you mostly play on auto, it would be nice if it were more interactive.
Gatcha 3/10 to put it simply, it’s bad, there aren’t enough characters in the game so they just added multiple versions of the same characters, the drop rate for 4 star characters feels lower than it actually is, I personally had to summon over 100 times to get a 4 star character, there is a pity system, however you need to summon 200 times in order to redeem it.
Even so this is one of the few rare games on the App Store that has a storyline that’s actually good, the kind of storyline where you don’t want to skip anything because that’s just how great it is, a few tweaks here and there and this game will be popular on the App Store for years to come.

I’m going to start off by saying this is the ONLY game where I haven’t whaled and the ONLY game where I don’t plan too. In fact today I thought yeah I’ll buy something to support middle of my payment whole game goes into maintenance. Fair enough I know that’s normal but what am I actually supporting? Personally I don’t think it’s worth it

Two stars for soundtrack, storyline and visuals.

Beyond that I can’t believe how abysmal everything else is. The gameplay is pretty sucky even for a turn-based games. I kept track of some metrics and my pulls… turns out the rates shown are nowhere what the ACTUAL rates are. Out of 200 pulls 280+ were just 2* star weapons. I could show you other games that have the same abysmal rates and guess what there all made by Square Enix as well. Further on localisation is terrible? Bugs are galore and this is either my 2nd or 3rd day where I haven’t received gems for full completion of daily challenges. I love Square Enix but this is something else.
