Description

Immerse yourself in sound. Meditate with soundscapes written only for you.

An alternative to structured meditation platforms, Non uses sound to develop the practice of active listening and invite deepened states of consciousness.

Non produces each sound note by note, making no two sessions ever alike. The soundscapes heard are not pre-recorded—they are uniquely yours in that moment.

A lack of familiarity with each passing note means you may approach each session unclouded by expectation—using sound as your guide for self-exploration.

GENERATIVE SOUND MEDITATIONS
Beneath Non’s surface is a nuanced algorithm that intelligently generates sounds based on your desired energy level, environment, time of day, and motion. Each session generates a unique audio composition based on these variables. Non’s generative algorithm is the key to the app’s diversity of sound.

CALMING OR FOCUSING
To begin each session, you select your desired energy level. Whether you seek calming tones to induce sleep, sonic stimulation to help focus at work, or an auditory vanishing point to guide an existing meditation practice or psychedelic journey, Non responds with a unique sound meditation tailored to your intent.

A DIVERSITY OF SOUND
Non offers a unique blend of organic and synthesized sounds—drawing from contemporary minimal music, traditional world instrumentation, ASMR, and electroacoustic production. This breadth of musical inspiration, combined with extensive sound research, affords a multi-layered yet cohesive experience.

ADAPTIVE VISUALS
Based on your current location and position relative to the sun, Non’s user interface adapts to reflect the tone of that particular time of day. This response to your surroundings inspires a direct connection to the ever-changing nature of your physical world.

MINIMAL BY DESIGN
Stripped of buttons and an overwhelming library of options, Non strives for simplicity and immediacy. An experience tonally suited for meditation, alleviating your paradox of choice.

TACTILE AND CONNECTIVE
With haptic feedback, each gesture fully integrates with your experience. Any movement of your device directly impacts the sound you hear.

This app is the best! I love to use it after I’ve done my school work to unwind, just after I’ve woken up to set my head right and before bed to relax me. I love how you get to customise what you hear and the different exploration levels are also really interesting when you unlock them. I 100% recommend this app to anyone and everyone who needs to destress, you won’t regret it!!

Non

I’ve never used sound as an anchor before for meditation, so I wanted to give this a try anyway.

The app itself is pretty basic, which isn’t a bad thing at all and gesture based which makes it simple enough to use. Text instructions guide you how to use the app when you launch it.

My only advice is to make sure the text is accessible as although the colour combinations are very nice, I’m not so sure the text is as easy to read as it could be bumped up in size by a few points.

You decide how long to meditate by sliding up and down to pick a duration. While I found this accurate enough, you’re then asked to force press the screen which by accident changes the duration, or maybe I was doing it wrong? Perhaps making the gesture to decide how intense to make the session should be something entirely different so it doesn’t interfere with the duration gesture? Also, making use of the haptic engine when setting the duration might be nice feedback.

All in all, a very nice first experience using this app, it’s beautifully presented and I look forward to seeing how it changes and evolves in the future.

Developer Response ,

Hey! Thanks for all the feedback, we really appreciate it and do take it seriously. For a future update, we’ve subtly adjusted the precise control for vertical scroll so hopefully it makes your experience a bit easier to use. Also, your note re: accessibility is taken. In the next update the type sizing and color will be slightly adjusted. This is also quite inspiring to make an accessibility mode for the app. Thanks again and we hope you keep using Non!

Helpful to meditation

I have been enjoying using non for meditation as each time is different and I love the way the colours change.
I have now reached expansion level 3 and having unlocked various sounds it’s getting much more busy sounding, even the beginning and ending bells are more fussy which is putting me off.
I wish you could choose to stay at a simpler level, I might try unsubscribing and seeing if it resets to level 1 again.

Developer Response ,

Hi! Thank you for the feedback. Migrating to a lower level will be possible in a future update. With that said, Non functions as an additive system. The sounds and structures heard in the 1st and 2nd levels are still accessible once you’ve reached level 3. Hopefully your experience improves, but keep us posted.
