Description

There's been a tweak to some elements to make things easier to use, and there's now Tips! So there's less confusion about using the app and the system overall.

We created nossaflex because there was nothing we could find on the App Store that ticked all of our boxes whilst looking good.

NOSSAFLEX is a naming convention that helps you know your settings as a glance.

NO = Number, SS = Shutter Speed, A = Aperture, FL = Focal Length, EX = Exposure.

This all lives in the filename of your images so you don't require a metadata reader to get this info out. Our app not only presents your data in this format but it also allows other information like roll names and film stocks used.

Our app has these current features for your endless use:

– A digital library for your cameras, lenses and rolls to live in.
– Custom-built light meter so you can get readings for all of your cameras.
– Ability to add in text descriptions for each photo.
– Take a reference photo on your phone so you know what the scene looked like when you captured it on your camera.
– The location of your shot can be tracked if you give the app permission.

Happy shooting!

What’s New

Version 2.1

We've updated the UI in small bursts across the app to improve functionality. You'll see these on the home page, light meter and individual camera pages.
We've fixed a host of bugs, with too many to name – so hopefully yours has now been splat.
Plus, tips! There are now tips that guide you through the app to help you set up and learn the system.

Happy shooting!

Nice interface. Shame no export

A nice interface with good editing features. A shame there’s no export to CSV though, this would be great for importing to spreadsheet or Lightroom. Maybe in a future version...

Thanks for the review! We have planned the functionality to go in, just not quite there yet. We know how important it is, so it's on the list!

Useless

This app doesn’t do anything. You have to add all your cameras and fill rolls manually, which is tedious only to access the light meter, which, by the way, doesn’t work at all. Also the app has no instructions on how to use it all all. Worthless. Don’t use this app.

Developer Response ,

Sorry you’re having issues with the app, but this is all opposite to the feedback we’re getting.

Yes, everything is manually because film photography is a manual process. If we could automate it, that would be digital photography!

Our app is not a lightmeter app, we have included a lightmeter to support the logging process.

We do appreciate the lack of instruction though, which we are fixing in the next up date with tips. We hope you give it another go - or even send us an email so we can help you better!

Indispensable app for quick and easy logging

I use this app whenever I shoot film, and have logged almost 200 rolls with it since July 2021.

It does require some setting up — you have to add cameras and lenses to enable you to start logging rolls. But in the long run, this saves a lot of time.

Whether or not you find this app useful depends largely on how much you value “metadata” for your analogue shots. I’ve found it very handy for a number of things:

a) While shooting, the light meter acts as an additional tool to check my exposures. I don’t find it entirely predictable or reliable (which is true of every iPhone light meter I’ve tried), so I don’t rely on it, but it does give me a useful “second opinion”.

b) When I receive film from the lab, sorting it digitally and physically to match my filing system can be tedious, and having a quick digital reference for each shot on a roll lets me know what to rename the files I receive.

c) If I want to know what settings I’ve used for a given shot, I can easily go back in my logs to check, which lets me learn from my experience in a more quantifiable, tangible way.

Overall, logging my shots has helped me understand my equipment and lenses better, sped up my filing workflow, and added metadata to images that is normally not available when shooting film, including location.

There are certainly additional features and improvements I’d like to see, but the team behind the app are responsive and creative, and I have no doubt that there’s more to come from this great little tool that I use all the time. Thanks folks!

Such an awesome use case — and for years! Thanks a heap for the review, makes working on this little project worth it 🥹
