HOW TRACKING WORKS
OCEARCH conducts scientific research and collaborates with institutions across the world! SPOT tags are used to provide near real-time tracking data for an average of 5 years. Each time the animal’s tag breaks the surface of the water, it signals a satellite to create a ‘ping’ on the tracker for YOU to see. Data is used by the scientific community to help with:

We created this app to engage YOU in shark and marine conservation efforts by providing real-time tracking data on ocean animals. The app is fantastic for keeping up to date with the amazing work the team does. The tracker is an amazing feature and engages the public, we can feel part of the project and it helps educate without teaching on animal behaviour. Being able to support the team financially in the app is novel and I think positive because often this can be difficult to approach. The content updates are always detailed and overall I enjoy opening the app every day multiple times a day to get updates.I hope you find some juveniles in the North Atlantic, that would be super exciting.

I love this detailed tracking of sharks and turtles!I have favourite Sharks I like to follow and am happy to see them ping! Details on the maps are great I often find myself zooming in on locations I’d never heard of! Awesome job ocearch you guys do a fantastic job!

I love this app and everything about it however, one glaring flaw has surfaced recently; that flaw being the complete removal of comments! I would love reading all the lovely messages from the community to sharks like Phillip but now I can’t. Ocearch I beg you to bring it back or else my fifth star will be forever missing. #BringBackComments

i love this app, check it regularly to see the location of some of my favourite sharks on here. however i am disappointed with the removal of the comments!! loved reading and posting comments to my favourite sharks, it’s was so lovely to see. please bring back the comments!
