Use maps, routes, and tracks within any of the four OMN apps. Therefore, you can plan a route on the larger screen on your home computer and quickly sync your route data to your iPhone or iPad. If you need to make a change whilst on the go, OMN iOS has a full route editing system. When you have completed your trip, review your tracklog either on OMN your mobile device or quickly sync to your desktop computer to view on a larger screen.

Anquet Maps have been building digital mapping systems since 2001. This latest version of OMN was built with the help of our customers, concentrating on usability and consistency across our apps on all platforms to allow users to learn the system once and easily move between computers without having to relearn everything. Although you have a full route editing system on your phone or tablet, having access to the same tools on your desktop computer will make your route planning much easier due to the larger screen.

OMN on the desktop also contains a very powerful print engine to allow you to make map prints to carry as a backup.

Great build on previous version

I've used Anquet mapping products for many years and overall been very happy but I have used other mapping software for my walks and bike rides. This new OMN iOS version which I've installed on my iPad Pro, is more intuitive and easier to use that the previous iOS OMN version and just a seamless experience as all my routes, planned and walked, maps, line styles etc., are available and work in a similar way across all of my devices. This looks like a major development to the OMN product range and introducing, I'm pleased to say, a directly supported Mac OS version, (I've currently downloaded a Mac beta version). The interface has common themes over all the platforms so it’s been a short leaning curve to set up the OMN software, some beta versions, on all my devices. I've taken a subscription as I think that would work better for me and I can download or stream all the latest OS maps as they are released. I’ve experimented using my Garmin GLO (GPS/GLNOSS receiver) with my WiFi only iPad Pro, it works really well, allowing me to see a larger mapping screen and still record tracks, easier on my eyes?
Overall this is looking good, currently lacking a mini compass and a few essentials but I understand these in the pipeline.

Brilliantly simple

I have used OMN for many years and thought it was about time I wrote a review. It’s great strength lies in its pure simplicity. Route plotting, route editing and tracking are all delightful and intuitive to use. Syncing across devices works faultlessly and map downloads for offline use is both fast and simple. Route line styles can be user defined and waypoint icons can be imported to add to the in-built set if required. The definition and clarity on the HD maps is excellent.

OMN may not (yet) have all the advanced navigation tools like ‘go to’ and alarms but for designing and editing routes, syncing them across devices, importing & exporting of GPX files and all against a background of sparkling maps it can’t be beaten.

Many thanks for taking the time to write this review; it really is appreciated. We have some big changes coming along in 2022, but you will be glad to know that simplicity is still getting a top priority.

Clunky, limited features, beware subscription auto renew

I tried this app as a possible replacement for ViewRanger which is sadly no more. I bought a £2 trial subscription of to try out the app. I cancelled this trial subscription as the app was no good for me as the feature set is very limited. Kindly the developer refunded me the annual fee which I thought I had already cancelled. I think this app might work out ok if you’re a fairly basic user and a walker who only needs to look at a fairly small area at a time and only works with a small number of tracks. As a cyclist with a large library of routes there are real problems looking at GPX tracks over a larger area. Worse, the route drawing features are limited to drawing straight lines. No ‘snap to road’ functionality. Also none of the GPX files I uploaded onto the desktop app synchro to the mobile phone app, making the whole thing a bit pointless. The search for a ViewRanger replacement continues…

Developer Response ,

I'm sorry the feature set wasn't what you were looking for. Please do let us know at support@anquet.com what features you were looking for. We have a major rebuild in the works, so a lot of new functionality is in the pipeline.
