Description

The app was previously free, but is now paid.

Show a single task on your desktop or in the Notification Center.

Add some tasks to the app and then add the widget. Simply tap the widget to mark the task as completed. The next task will then appear.

You can change the order the tasks will be chosen in the widget configuration.

The simplicity is a feature. The app will not have things like folders, tags, priority, notes, etc.

The optimal workflow is to add only the tasks you are committed to completing today. The app is designed for task completion, not endless organization and neglect.

Todo app that actually helps

Most todo apps I tried, end up degenerating into a bottomless pit of aspirations that failed to be provided real-life resources, and tasks that no longer made sense after a week because my understanding of the bigger goal or context would render them obsolete or outdated. Eventually, it becomes futile and dangerous to add important tasks requiring focused actioning into the mess. Attempting to clean things up would trigger high levels of discomfort and guilt. Onto the next Todo list app that starts with a clean slate...

One Task clearly gets this, and presents a design so stripped down that you'd have to try very hard to end up with overflowing and outdated tasks. It forces me to list up a realistic number of tasks to get done every day, and just shows you one on your desktop to reduce cognitive burden, encouraging you to focus and tick it off.

I've found the extension (placed in the middle of my desktop) to sometimes refuse to update when I update my tasks in the app, but most likely this is a macOS / extension limitation.

I wish more apps could focus on actual effectiveness over feature lists and pretty screenshots, like this gem of an app.
