Description

Realize a superior clean with the new revolutionized Oral-B mobile experience.

Studies show that the average person brushes for only 30-60 seconds, compared to the dentist- recommended 2 minutes. Also, up to 80% of people spend an insufficient amount of time brushing in at least one zone of their mouth. This includes 60% of people who either don’t brush their back molars at all or don’t spend enough time when they do[1].

At Oral-B we strive to improve those stats to help deliver a superior clean. The breakthrough technology of the Oral-B Bluetooth® enabled toothbrushes seamlessly connects to the Oral-B app to deliver brushing intelligence at the next level. The Oral-B app is your digital coach to help you brush correctly as recommended by Dental Professionals.

Makes it fun!

I like this app, got to admit. It’s a bit daft I suppose having an app to help you clean your teeth, I’m an adult, I’m perfectly capable! Lol. Having said that, it makes it fun and turns something boring into an event (hey, this is the year of lockdowns, got to find excitement where you can!) I’m enjoying tracking my progress and I got this toothbrush because my dentist said I was pressing too hard and it admonishes you for that, so that’s good too. Have had no problems connecting every time. I don’t know about the mouth segment tracking as I bought a mid range brush that just uses a timer in the app. Only thing I would request is that it would be great if the data synced up with Apple Health. Other than that, fun little app! Thanks.

Update: Discovered it does sync with Apple Health, so cool. Yes, this app isn’t necessary, but then surely most people knew that? Can an app be necessary that tracks cleaning your teeth? No, so chill out on your expectations and just have fun with it.

This app seriously needs fixing!

In theory, the app is great. In reality, not so. It doesn’t run smoothly and for a while, it would force close immediately after I finished a brushing session. Don’t even get me started on the accuracy of the streaks. Periodically, it logs me out of my Oral-B Me account which is very frustrating as I usually forget my password. It takes about 10 minutes for the email with the password reset link to come through which isn’t too long really but feels like forever when I’m waiting for it. When I finally log back in again, I find I have to reselect my goals and app settings. The app also never remembers when I changed my brush head which means I constantly get reminders to change it even when I have told it that I am using a brand new one. I’m excited when I see the app has been updated but every time none of the bugs have been fixed or there just seems to be more issues. It seriously needs some work on it. I’ve had it for over 2 years now and I’m just experiencing the same issues over and over again! It’s just app I use to brush my teeth - it shouldn’t have to be such an inconvenience!

To answer your questions, I have the Genius 9000 toothbrush and an iPhone 11 running iOS 13.4.1. The firmware is SW-Version 11 and P-Version 3.

Developer Response ,

Sorry to learn that the update on our app seems to have caused you some issues at the moment. Please could you let us know which toothbrush you have, the model of iPhone you use and the version of iOS you're currently running? Your Oral-B Team.

Hi there, thanks for leaving a new review.

We appreciate that you’ve been using the app for such a long time, but we’re sorry to hear that you feel disappointed. We’d really like to help, as we can understand how frustrating it must be when the app has crashed, logged you out, or messed up your brushing streaks. Could you let us know what Oral-B brush you have, iPhone and its iOS version? If you could include the firmware version as well, that'd be great. You find this under Toothbrush Handle in the app settings. Speak soon.

Thanks for the additional info. We have asked the App Developers if they have any idea why this might be happening. As soon as they come back, we will update our response. Thank you for your patience.

Hi there, we’re very sorry about the late update of our response.

The technical team have now let us know that these issue should be resolved with the new app version 8.0, a completely new application with a new code base, which will be released within the next few weeks. Again, we’re very sorry for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience.

Latest update has greatly reduced functionality

It used to be that starting a brushing session would wake the phone. Then that stopped. NOW, even worse, when you wake the phone after starting the session, it doesn’t count what you already did and the timer resets itself to zero! So frustrating. Please rectify. Going back to original functionality would be best so that starting to brush wakes the phone, but definitely remove the bug that nullifies what you may already have done when the app opens!

Clarification as requested: the timer starts to register the brushing session and gets as far as 5/6 seconds THEN there is a small sound, it pauses and then reverts to zero. I always brush for over 2 minutes. iPhone XR, iOS 12.3. Thanks

Further update: having been on a 10 day media detox I did not sync my toothbrush with my phone until I returned. What I find is that the brushing sessions have all synced but none of the other data so I suddenly have a broken record for flossing and tongue cleaning. This is surely very disappointing and I think needs to be fixed.

Developer Response ,

Further update: This would be correct, our handles will only record and store your brushing sessions -they're unable to record flossing or recognize tongue cleaning as a separate session. Sorry for any disappointment. Your Oral-B Team.

Update: Thanks for confirming some more details, the app should definitely be working as intended. Our team are working very hard at the moment to make sure any bugs are ironed out - please keep an eye out for updates, we hope you can fully enjoy the app again very soon. Your Oral-B Team.

We’re sorry to hear of the problems you’re having since the latest update. If you brush for less than 30 seconds, it will not count as a session. You’ve mentioned that the timer resets itself, which may be why it’s not being recorded. So we can share this with our app developers, could you please let us know which iPhone model you have, along with its current iOS version. Thanks, speak soon.
