app with offline downloads will not work after an upgrade
for every upgrade, app will not open at all. I have downloaded books to read them offline. once I upgrade the app it will never work. It crashes all the time. This is happening from the past 10 upgrades. Can you guys please fix it. There can be two reason which I am suspecting. App is not properly handling user session. If user has an enterprise subscription sso is used. can u please check whether app is properly handling the session. Secondly, if app has some pre load mechanism is might be taking long time than usual time.
Inconsistent performance
The point of the subscription which is not cheap is to be able to access a comprehensive technical library. The subscription does this but the app is woeful. Random log outs especially when there is no network. This is exactly the time when I need it to work. Downloading content is unbelievably slow and the app randomly locks or freezes. The content I download should be downloaded not streamed I should not have to repeatedly login I have to pay for a year check subscription status in the background. If there is no network wait. Cache books in memory do not attempt to stream them. The point for me and everyone I know in an app is to have the material available OFFLINE. Personally it seems there is more focus on branding than functionality. I will cancel my subscription next year if it does not improve. It’s a shame really.
Excellent content. Customisation would help
e content and delivery are absolutely amazing. I have small quibbles. For instance I have no idea what I’m typing. White on white. Really great. It is internal to the O’Reilly app.
There should be a highlighting function for reading. And a bookmark. And notes. We spend a lot for this app so why not make it customisable! Give me some skin in the game and I might want to continue to subscribe. E reading is very impersonal so highlighting is so much more important (did I actually read this before?). With a regular book it’ll be bent and dog-eared. With an e-reader it is that much more important to mark it up. “I was here!”
Allow more share options. I might want to rate courses or books. “This is amazing.” “This isn’t really worth the time.” Seems O’Reilly hasn’t imported best practices from other apps.
Please see to change these. Make a community or dedicated O’Reilly aficionados. Don’t make it transactional. Thanks.
