Oto: Tinnitus & Sleep Therapy 17+

To know that I’m not alone struggling with tinnitus has been a life saver, the app has given me a community plus incredible ways to cope. As a very busy nurse I’ve sometimes wanted to even lose my hearing than cope with this which I know sounds ungrateful and dramatic but that’s what it can do to you. Thank you all so much for this app which is slowly being integrated into my life and helping me so much. Bless u George and the team

It’s terrible that an app that offers help to such a debilitating illness is so expensive, apart form offering 1:1 help that would be expensive & I’m sure is limited there is nothing than you can from a free sounds app & research on how to treat Tinnitus, for which there is a wealth of free information. The intro video has terrible audio (and production) quality where’s it’s obviously been compressed down for streaming. I get the developers have to make a living and this can’t be free but for £10 a month what are you actually offering for that money a put together web page app of documents and audio recordings which you never have to update. If you sold this at a decent affordable price with paid options for 1:1 advice. I could understand but £10 a month is just fleecing poor tinnitus sufferers & I bet many have money worries that this only adds too! App subscription is the scourge of digital help, rarely does it offer anything in return just a great way for developers to make money from selling the same thing over & over.

Ed here, one of Oto’s founders. Thank you for your review but it is clear that you have not really evaluated the product before writing - it feels like you got upset by the fact that we have a paid subscription and reacted with this review.
We have a lot of free content, which we do update regularly - in fact we updated the first 7 days just this month - all of which is free.
We also host free webinars, offer support over chat and even a free expert consultation.
All of the sounds in the app are also free.
I disagree that £10 a month is a lot of money - the tools you learn in the app will stay with you for the long run... but you don't need to keep paying after you have learned them and you're feeling better. It’s 10x cheaper than a private audiologist or ENT.
I would urge you to try the free content in the app again and perhaps if your opinion changes you can update your review :).

Honestly, the trial period of one week is too short for an app that is so expensive and one where you have to stump up the full year’s payment up front. Yes, it’s 9.99 a week but you have to pay for the full year in one go. It makes me think the developers are not truly confident it works for people otherwise you’d be able to pay for it monthly with the option of cancelling the subscription on a monthly basis (like most other apps). I would have tried it for longer if it wasn’t so much money required up front just on the off chance it might help.

Trialling it for one week made no difference to my tinnitus.
