With OVpay, you can use your contactless card or phone to check in and out of Dutch public transport. This is the accompanying app—perfect for both seasoned travellers and first-timers. Meet the OVpay app: • Confirm check-ins and check-outs Not sure if you’ve checked in or out? Find out under ‘Journeys’. You can also opt to get a notification every time you check in or out. • Adjust missed check-ins or check-outs Forgotten to check in or out? No problem! You can adjust missed check-ins and check-outs in the app. Up to 60 days after your journey. • All journeys and travel costs in a one overview View all your journeys and travel costs from the past 18 months under ‘Journeys’. • Create travel expense overviews Send travel expense overviews to your employer straight from the app. Or have it email you a PDF. All you need to do is select the month and trips—the app will take care of the rest! • Add multiple cards You can now add up to 10 cards to the app. Give them a name and colour so you can easily keep them apart. Perfect if you use different cards for travel. • Add your age-based discount If you qualify for a 34% age-based discount, you can add it to your card. Overly complicated setup

You can view your trips on the website in a pretty straightforward fashion but if you want to be able to view your hostory you'll need the app. Simple right? No.Lack of help screens means that if things don't work as expected you'll find yourself in an endless loop.Also, you can't set up an account until 24hours after your first trip, which you don't find out until halfway through the setup process (which can include taking a screen capture of a very long transaction number, transcribing it to text and then pasting that into a form filed). Very sloppy.

Great for tracking travel spend when in NL

Used UK debit card for first trip on NL train without issue. Upon starting the second trip on a NL train I was able to get the all important transaction reference to add my Debit card to the OVPay app. Following this on a recent visit to Rotterdam I was pleased to see realtime push notifications of my check in and check outs on the RET allowing me to see spend and whether I had checked in and checked out. Great system and app not well understood by other international visitors.

Cannot be used by visitors to Netherlands

I was hopping there I’d finally a Apple Pay like solution for mobile phones for travel in Netherlands.I tried to instal the app. Not sure what the target customer of this app is . When subscribing one page is English, the next one is Dutch. Strange. It also seems to be impossible if you are not already a Dutch debit card holder to sign up as a foreigner with a foreign debit card therefore the app is not suitable for travellers to Netherlands. Description of function should explain that.

Pointless app that leads you to go round on a loop

This app is completely pointless. Trying to add a payment card but instruction’s don’t work because if you say you haven’t yet travelled you go round and round in circles because when you press ‘no I haven’t travelled’ you go back to the page with ‘add a card’ and then to ‘have you travelled before’ and then back to ‘add a card’ and so on. This is not friendly for an international visitor.

We tweaked some things that are probably too small to notice. But the app should work a bit better now.
