Paint By Numbers: Hey Colour 4+

Great for art therapy!

I fell in love with this app as soon as I saw that there were lots of hard ones to complete! I love challenging pictures to colour so this app makes me extra happy compared to my other apps for this very reason alone! I also love love love the magic pictures, they’re so detailed and beautiful when finished! Please don’t stop making these hard pictures!! I had that with another app I played and I’ve been looking for a replacement ever since!

There’s a couple of things that I would like to see, not enough to lose a star but I would like to see them never the less. Firstly, I would like to see an option in the settings page to hide coloured images. Lots of scrolling to do when you’ve got lots of completed images in a category. Secondly, please can we have the option to pay by year? It’s easier for me to purchase yearly subs as I don’t get my money on a set date, so monthly subs are always awkward because of this. I hate adverts so if I like an app I always like to support it by subbing!

Apart from that, I love the app!

What has happened to this app?

I loved this app in spite of having to pay twice before the annoying ads went away. I updated the app on my iPhone this morning and hit ‘restore purchases’ but the ads are back! I refuse to pay to have them removed a third time. Also I had accumulated 16,004 units of energy. This has been replaced by only 10 magnifying glass hints! 🤬 I won’t be updating the app on my iPad as the energy units are still there and will use it until I get sick of the incessant ads (that won’t take long!) then I’ll uninstall it. As a software engineer myself I understand the need to continually release bug fixes and enhancements but this latest release has completely ruined the app for me. It’s gone from 5 stars to one and that’s only because I had to give it one. I really didn’t want to give it any at all.

We’ve listened to the community and made a difficult decision - removing Energy & Magic Wand completely in order to provide a smoother game experience and make the app even more enjoyable. After careful consideration, we have come up with a progressive system of replacing Energy with hints. However, we totally understand your frustration. We cherish all our users and take care of our beloved fans - that’s why we offered 30 unique images (including Special) in addition to hints. We’ll be now focusing our efforts on creating top-notch coloring pages to make the app fun & enjoyable. Thanks for playing Hey Color!

Disappointed

This was and the emphasis is on “was” a very enjoyable app but since changes were made it has been very disappointing. I had over 5000 points or energy when over night they vanished and were replaced by 7 hints. This it seems was a result of customer requests but I personally do not believe that any customers had any choice in the matter. What I do believe is the developer needed to increase income from the app and to do that they gave us hints but only 7. I have paid to go add free but should I need extra hints I will have to watch an advert, so by watching that advert I increase the developers income. Of course there are those who don’t pay to go add free and they already see lots of adverts, how could the developers increase income from those users. My theory is that they have lowered the quality of the pictures as all the ones I have chosen to do today have been around 50 colours where most used to be well over 100. In fact most pictures now can be completed in a few minutes which of course results in more adverts for those who don’t go advert free, which of course results in more income for the developer. As another reviewer wrote, I will give it a couple of weeks and if the pictures don’t improve then it’s time to delete.
