Description

Here be traps and treasures, monsters and magic.

Get ready to battle monsters, crawl dungeons and hoard treasures! The miles of challenge and mystery lie before you. Will you survive the legendary Path of Adventure?

Text-based
This is a game of words and choices. Take part in a fantasy narrative and decide how you want to act. Will you explore the ancient ruins? When to use magic? And what to buy from the merchant?

Gameplay first
But don’t let the text fool you – this is a true game! Inspired by both classic D&D and modern RPG’s, it features:
- Turn-based combat
- Procedurally generated dungeons
- Permadeath
- Loads of weapons, items and monsters
- 6 unique playable characters

Easy to learn, hard to master
Never played a game like this before? No problem! Just start with the tutorial and continue your way. But beware: this game is a real challenge and requires wits and tactics to win!

Free to play
This game is free to play, and free to win. The only in-app-purchases are Resurrects and Undos. They are handy, but completely optional.

Accessible
Path of Adventure is optimized for screen readers; thanks to the help and support from the community of visually impaired players.

Here be wits and charm, polish and fun

From what I’ve played thus far, it’s a really well-crafted text-based RPG!
I was looking for a light-weight game to play offline and I think I’ve found it. I love the UI design; it’s clean and consistent, and I really appreciate that aspect. For games with no real graphics, having good UI is really important in my opinion, and Path of Adventure achieves the look brilliantly!
But it’s not just the design that has me singing praises, the gameplay and text that accompanies it are just as strong. The mechanics are really interesting and the combat and strategy required has been executed very well, and the humour and wit is just the icing on the cake!

I really wish this game all the success it deserves, and I really want to see continued development on the app to give it the opportunity to achieve an even better standard. I have a few suggestions on possible future updates (if the developer is still working on the game): I really wish that there was a log to review the progress of your story; I really enjoy the humour and it’s a shame we can’t flick back to read about past scenarios and see it all as one cohesive story. Another thing I think would be a great addition, is some sort of basic character creation, i.e. naming your own avatar, choosing a class etc. I think it would add a personal touch to each new adventure.

Thank you for making a great game, and I really hope you keep expanding upon it!

Fun and funny

It’s tough, but it doesn’t feel impossible. I’m about 4 games in and I’ve yet to complete the first character but I feel like I learn something every time and that helps to keep me coming back.

The real charm, however, is in the writing. I was sceptical about how good a text-based rogue-like could be but it really works. The text is succinct enough to not detract from the action, while still providing enough detail to illustrate the scene and maintain immersion and enough little comedic gems to keep the whole thing fun. My cap is well and truly doffed to the writer - that’s no small feat.

On top of that, there’s *no* intrusive advertising, no pay-to-play scheme - it feels like a game made for the joy of playing. The one place to make an in-app purchase is that oh-so-tempting moment when your character turns up his toes and there’s that option to resurrect... and I just know it’s going to be tempting enough at some point with the justification that I’ve not felt compelled to dip into my wallet anywhere else.

Well done to the creator - highly recommendable game.

Fun

Very fun game. When you fail it feels like you were close most times and you get an urge to carry on. Hope there will be some updates in the near future with different options and possibly a completely different storyline. Love the fact that there isn't ads each choice in this game like a few others. Would happily pay for this game but awesome that you don’t. Great job to the developers very simple but so fun! I really hope the developers expand on this and create more characters stories and items,as stated before I would happily pay a one time purchase for this game but keep the only purchases as redos or resurrects. Would be a cool option to earn redos and even the ability to earn one or two a week would be a nice touch and really make the player value the redos and understand how helpful they can be
