Simple enough, but needs work

Firstly if you use this app as a one off for the odd visit into a city centre then you’ll be fine. It’s fairly simple to set up enter your car details, setup payment and you’re up and running.

The app features a nice map function that allows you to find the parking you’re looking for or alternatively it uses geo-location to pick the nearest one.

The two issues I have with this is a; you cannot top up once you purchase a maximum ticket, meaning you arrive at 8:30 on day one and pay you cannot top it up until 8:31 the following day, which means the sometimes your sat in your car waiting for the current one to expire before you can purchase another... Wait, you’re probably thinking just wait until it expires and it will send a notification through ... well that leads me into my second issue - I have all my notifications turned on, on my phone and both text and push notifications on the app and they simply do not work. If I get into the office and get caught up in the day to day, there is no reminder for me to do this and by the time I remember I’ve already received the inevitable parking ticket.

Probably not worth it yet if you’re using this on a daily basis.

It works and UI is well laid out

Always felt weird about paying for parking by phone given how temperamental these kinds of apps were when they first came out, but this actually works really well.

Note for the developers - there is one small bug where if you open the app and wait before selecting a predefined time slot (i.e 1hour from the button rather than entering the value manually) then the expiry time is set to 1 hour from when the app was opened, rather than from the current time. Closing and reopening the app fixes this, but for UX this should be updated to calculate 1hour from the current time when the user clicks to go to the payment screen.

Thank you for the feedback - we will forward this to the development team :)

Bizarrely difficult to use

Fine to pay for random street parking but the residents permit bit is awful. Trying to book visitors parking sits somewhere between challenging and fraudulent. You can only book in whole hours, you can only specify the number of hours or days you want (so therefore have to figure out how many controlled hours exist within the time time period the visitor is staying), then once you’ve added that up you have to split it into daily portions to avoid being overcharged, e.g. I want to book from late afternoon of one day and all of the following day adding up to 11 hours in total within the controlled hours. Selecting the 11 hours I want asks me for £9. Selecting 8 hours asks me for £4.50. Upping that to 9 hours doubles the price to £9 even though it’s just 1 more hour. So I have to book 2 sessions. One for 8 hours at £4.50 and the other for 3 hours at £2.40 giving me the 11 hours but now for £6.90 when doing the same thing in one go would have cost me £9. How on earth does that make sense!
