I am considering asking for my money back. I just paid for a year subscription and these magazines just don't download. I was trying to download the free one and it got to about 60% and said download failed (after over an hour) and now I'm trying to download one I paid for and it must have been going for about 3 hours now and isn't past 65%. I also think that the content in the pc gamer magazines as a whole has been getting shockingly bad when you compare it to a few years ago. I buy maybe 1 or 2 magazines a year and the only reason I paid for this subscription is becauase i thought it might be a good idea for when I'm just bored but I thought I'd be able to download a magazine and just read it within minutes not days.
Absolutely brilliant app to accompany a fantastic magazine, I'd never go back to a physical subscription again; issues delivered directly to your device, a huge log of back issues and to top it all off interactive links and in app links to exclusive galleries, videos etc. only thing stopping it being a full 5/5 is that on my ipad 4th gen for some reason the interactive videos won't play, if this issue is resolved I will promptly change the rating to reflect this, keep up the good work guys, you've earned yourself a new digital subscriber
As above. Actually there is a bit more to say. Stable (using on iPhone), and worth mentioning as people have commented previously on issues around this. Great content and quality as always from seasoned reviewers. It’s lovely to be able to refer back to previous issues at any time, (nostalgia tick!).
Always loved PC Gamer mag, used to buy paper version, but this is much cheaper (: everything is crisp and looks amazing, *but* evidently the cost for that is insane loading times, after spending a fair while downloading the whole mag (even with 38mb line) you then spend another 5-20 secs per *PAGE* waiting for it to clear up before it's readable. Once that's sorted I will gladly 5 star this. Please fix asap :)
I am currently a subscription holder for the paper copy of the magazine, and was looking at reducing the cost of my subscription by going digital. However, because of the exclusion of the special offers/codes/free games that the print version has got, I will be waiting to see if they are included. Please treat all formats the same, as you champion this statement within your magazine when it comes to piracy, DRM etc!
Slow to load pages, content is ok but takes an age to download, doesn't download until you click download then takes ages to download and process. Not really a great swap for the physical magazine, it is actually quicker for me to walk to my local shop and buy it. And at least with the physical copy I don't get told i have to redownload an updated version. Also worth noting that pc gamer is the only magazine that didn't improve performance for high retina reading. I wouldn't bother.
