Description
Phoenix makes using bitcoin easy, fast and safe. Payments are nearly instantaneous, and fees are minimal. You can use it to send payments (e.g. buy a cup of coffee), receive payments, and store your bitcoin safely for day-to-day spending.
The bitcoin lightning network means faster payments and smaller fees. Lightning is 100% bitcoin - an open standardized payments layer, engineered to improve speed while maintaining security and decentralization. And Phoenix makes it possible for everyone to use. Lightning channels are managed for you automatically. And inbound liquidity is automatically handled too. If you don't know what any of that means, then this is the wallet for you!
Phoenix is a non-custodial wallet, and is fully open source. It was created by ACINQ, one of the pioneering companies in the bitcoin lightning network. And the same company that runs the largest lightning node in the world.

Best Self-Custodial Lightning wallet
Phoenix is the easiest to use and set-up “self custodial” Lightning wallet currently available, of-course in my opinion.
If you’ve only used a custodial one before, then the experience here is pretty similar, with fees and “what’s going on under the hood” explained well enough that I don’t feel caught out or uncertain, without it being an overly-technical explainer. I’ve used Breez before and found Phoenix works better for me.
If you’ve never used Lightning before, then Phoenix is still going to work well for you - it’s well built for a general audience not ‘pros’ only.
(Other good options are Breez, Mutiny Wallet (web based) and Zeus)
Best non-custodial wallet IMHO
Channel splicing is a step towards hiding lightning mechanics from end users, and ability to rent channel liquidity mitigates online fees to some extent. Still can’t beat the ease of a custodial wallet experience, but some great additions to custodial functionality for those that care.

Wallet is awesome and if you ever need to contact support they are quick and very helpful. Will continue to recommend this wallet!
