Picky - Beauty Community 4+

When I saw this app advertised on Facebook, I was initially sceptical about how good it looked because this usually means I’ll have to pay for something down the line. However, I was pleasantly surprised that it absolutely ticked all the boxes, all for free! I’d say although I know skincare is essential, it’s also something I really enjoy and many people tell me that’s it’s like a hobby of mine. My skin is resilient like the quiz said which helps when I get to try out most products I come across as I never react badly to anything. However, I believe I’ve been blessed with fairly normal skin, it’s not particularly oily or dry. I notice in the quiz you have to be assigned to one or the other, I’m currently set to oily/resilient as I get maybe one spot a month. I hope I’ve picked the better of the two skin type options, I know this app is probably aimed at people with skin that needs some help. But I do enjoy looking at all the features on this app anyway, as well as the order in which to apply the products as that was something I used to be unsure about.

I stumbled upon it one day after seeing a giveaway on it and since I am a skincare junkie, I thought I’d see what it was all about. You first create an account and do a skin quiz. It’s really helpful as you can create discussions, comment on other discussions, search for products which give detailed information on ingredients and whether or not it is suitable for your skin type, and more! All of these actions give you a certain number of picky points which can be used to participate in events e.g. giveaways or special promotions 🥰 Although there have been some bugs while using the app, there is a helpful feedback form on the app where you can suggest anything from fixes to potential features and they have been very helpful and solved these. It also means we’re helping them to create a better app for the community.
Whether you’re new or a professional in skincare, this is a great app to learn and share your experiences and advice! Especially with the experts and dermatologists, I feel grateful for their advice to help us. It really creates a supportive community and it’s kind of addicting to check on everyday to see what everyone is talking about hahaha

I now understand why some products didn’t work for me, why they irritated my skin and why I shouldn’t give them another chance. I have only been using this app for like a month and I love it! Whenever I want to buy a new skincare product, I consult it with Picky app. So far, none of the new products I got irritated my skin. However, there are two points I would like to mention: 1. It could have been good if there were product suggestions like “use every other day or once a week, etc. Even if these suggestions came from brands/packaging”; 2. In the Routine section, I thought the app would walk me through it, like “1st step. Cleanser: add your cleanser; 2nd step. Toner: add your toner; 3rd step. Serums, etc.” you get the idea. Overall the app is good, very straightforward, explains every single ingredient and it’s role in the product. Highly recommend to download it.
