Bit focused on problems
I’m an insect lover, that’s why I’m keen to identify the insects around me. The first info that comes up seems to be ‘toxic’ or ‘not toxic’ and the next is ‘feeds on plants, not usually a problem’ . There’s an immediate emphasis on information that is anthropocentic… even when the insect is not toxic.
This could of course be what other people want, but perhaps better placed after a brief intro?

Absolute game changer
As with their other ‘picture’ apps, it is literally life changing. You just snap a pic and 98% of the time the first result is the correct species, but if not then one of the next two are (it sometimes gives you 2-4 options if there are similar looking species). Not only that, but it gives you loads of accompanying information that help to further identify if it’s an issue in your garden/area, what it eats, etc that lets you know what best to do with it. There is a premium subscription option for anyone who wants extra info, the option to save your identified species in the app for longer/save more species, and way more, but you can also use the app for free which is amazing!!! I 100% recommend not just this app, but all of their identification apps for sure.

First of all, you do not need to pay, whatsoever. It will offer you a subscription, but you do not to accept. Just click cancel and it will get rid of it. The description is mostly precise and results are almost always correct. And let’s not forget to mention the incredible AI. If you are unsure of anything, just click on the robot icon in the bottom left corner. He can help you with anything. An app appropriate for parents trying to answer kids question of ‘what insect is that?’ , people wondering if an insect is harmless or not and insect enthusiasts. Download it now!
