What’s New

Version 2.16.2

- changed the event tap code
- macos catalina 10.15 now requires user permission for “screen recording” to allow apps like pixelstick to see the contents of the screen. now fixed
- when building pixelstick with xcode versions 10 and above: the window is no longer transparent, so you only see pixelstick on a grey background covering the whole screen. this is now fixed.

Excellent little app but buggy

Three very useful tools in a tiny little stick!
1. Measuring tool — generally excellent and much needed. Setting scaling factors ("zoom") is a bit faffy. Agree could have a "set zoom" button.
2. Marquee screen capture — without having to remember the macOS keyboard shortcut! :D
3. Color picker — from anywhere :D

Bugs that need fixing:
a. [CRITICAL]: Currently "forgets" your custom scaling if you quit
b. [annoying]: Doesn't work across multiple screens
c. [annoying]: Often crashes when you change preferences, forcing re-opening app.

diagonal measurements!

Could you add support for diagonal measurements, thanks.

Almost ideal

It’s a great app, worked just fine for me (MacBook Pro laptop, no additional screens). However, I wish the zoom factor were easier to set.

I was working on a PDF of an architectural drawing, with a scale shown on the drawing. I wanted to check the dimensions of items in the drawing with PixelStick. I had to measure the length of the scale with PixelSitck in pixels, then fire up Calculator to divide the length depicted by the scale by the length of the scale in pixels, then write the result into PixelStick as the zoom factor. It would be much easier if PixelStick had an additional field for the depicted length of a scale, into which you could enter the depicted length and have PixelStick effectively calculate the zoom factor automatically.

Other than that small niggle, the app does the job very well.
