PLAATO is a reinvented airlock that monitors your ongoing fermentation, sending the key parameters directly to your phone.
PLAATO lets you:

How PLAATO works
Plaato measures continously the flow of CO2 from the fermenter, and knows at any time the total amount of CO2 that has been generated by the fermentation.
Since the fermentation process generates equal amount of CO2 and ethanol, Plaato can use this data to estimate the Specific Gravity (SG), alcohol percentage and quantify the fermentation activity.

Constantly loses connection to airlock, can’t add device to wifi, can’t reset it
I’m on my second airlock now after the first broke due to poor build quality. Over the time I’ve had the second airlock I think it’s maybe worked about 3 out of 20 brews. The app keeps dropping the airlock and just says it’s offline. The app doesn’t help you set it up well at all as it just asks you to make sure your airlock is in “setup mode” but doesn’t tell you how to get it in setup mode. I can never see my airlock on WiFi to connect with it (yes I’m using 2.4GHz). The app does not help you reset the device and even using the help documentation I’ve not been able to reset it to retry adding the device again. The app doesn’t send you any notifications about fermentation which would be helpful. I don’t know, I’ve not successfully used it in months.
Biggest waste of time and money I’ve experienced with brewing, and I’ve had to pour two batches down the drain in the past but they don’t even compare. I envy anyone who has been able to use the PLAATO airlock consistently every brew without problems.
