Buy! Excellent companion on walks.

1) The author is amazingly open & reactive to feedback. He added a skip button for slow connections after I (and presumably others) identified it as a problem.
2) This is like having a botanist along on a walk with you. It is accurate most of the time with the result giving a percentage rating as to accuracy.
3) It’s so much better than a plant identification book.
4) I was very tempted to give this 5 stars. Only reason that I haven’t is that there is no facility as yet to report errors through the app, such as mislabelled common names. A problem I’ve only encountered once.
5) Try this app. I don’t believe you’ll be disappointed.

Amazing App.... best I’ve ever bought!

Just bought this after spending half an hour trying to identify a plant. Even with the generally decent reviews I didn’t rate my chances of success using the app but took a punt! How wrong I was! With incredible simplicity I snapped a picture of the flower whose identity had eluded me as I walked along the banks of the Pocklington Canal. There is a decent 4G connection here… Which I expect is pretty important for the app to have (and that’s not too surprisingly as it presumably is sending data to a server somewhere for analysis). Within about 10 seconds or less I had the result… I now can identify not only the rosebay willow herb but the hairy willow herb too! Thinking that this was probably a flash in the pan, albeit a pretty impressive one, I have gone on to do five other canalside plants, all of which have been identified promptly. All that was very impressive but the picture I sent of some sort of Dock leaf plant was of dried flowers (as we have had an amazing summer here in 2018) and I certainly did not expect suitable recognition… It took a little longer… Maybe close to a minute… But it returned the correct result! Thanks folks at the development end, my good lady and I will get some serious pleasure from this app!!

Great teaching tool

This little app is what technology was designed to be used for; it is great. It is a wonderful way to get children interested in nature; they enjoy taking the photos and watching the app analyse the them. It is also a god send for the teachers and teaching assistants, especially Forest School Leaders. It is so much easier than using the identification books, which have their role but heavy to take out on a field trip. We have a few old iPhones that we use for apps only; although only under the supervision of an adult as the children are only Junior aged. The accuracy seems to have improved or we have gotten better at using the app, most results give an accuracy of about 95%. I would recommend this app to schools or families, it works well.
